After my 2010 VW Beetle was in a front end accident I brought it to 360 for repair. In June of 2022 I received an estimate for its repair for the amount of $3,180. Its KBB private party value at that time was $5,060 so I decided to proceed with its repair and I dropped the car off around June 18th. On August 12, 360 changed the cost for the repair by just over 70% to $5,497. I already had $3180 in it and I didn’t want to throw that away so I reluctantly proceeded even though this new cost exceeded the finished value of the repaired car. Meaning that this car was “Totaled” the whole time. In October there was an additional fee for a broken windshield that they claim had a small chip when it was dropped off but grew to over 2 feet while at their shop. Despite that it does not show up at all in any of the photographs. Thereafter, there was the issue with the headlights looking like Marty Feldman which at that point I thought I’d have my mechanic adjust who told me that he could not. After looking at it myself l found that I needed to buy a headlight and 2 buckets because of their installation using epoxy. However, I was charged for 2 headlamp housings, 2 headlamp assemblies and 2 headlamp frames. All totaled my car was at their shop for well over 100 days. Now my hood won’t close. Initially I took it back to 360 and it stayed closed until I opened it and closed it 2 or 3 times then it wouldn’t close again. My calls went unanswered. So, I took it to another shop to get an estimate to fix that and it came back at $1500. I was told that to fix it they would have to take the entire front end of the car off.
Update: After the auto accident and meeting with Gerti we discussed the damage to the car including the check engine light being on. Upon picking up the car I told Gerti that the light was still on. He told me that it was the Mass Air Flow Sensor and that it just needed to be cleaned. I was skeptical but he said that it was because of the dust in the shop.
Fast forward to Pa’s annual inspection where I was told that the Mass Air Flow Sensor was fine but my Secondary Air Injection Pump was modified…with epoxy.
About a month ago while I was driving this car my radiator fluid blew out. The tow truck driver, whom I had to call, crawled under my car looked up and said that my problem was because the radiator wasn't installed correctly and it was not supported as designed. So, I had to buy a new radiator and pay for its installation too. You see a picture of the old one having adhesive.
In looking at the picture of my hood latch, that I paid 360 to replace, I paid to have it replaced again when the radiator was being replaced. 360 drilled out the old latch. This explains to me how it closed at 360 Auto Body but not for long thereafter. The custom, oval, mounting holes allowed the latch to slide down each time the hood was closed and once it did that the catch on the hood would no longer reach the hood latch as necessary. To fix this, that shop removed much of the front end to correct the work that I paid for but was not done right the first time.
