In 2022 I was helped by Coastal Jaw Surgery (CJS) with an acute oral problem that a surgeon in another state had previously failed to address effectively. The team of CJS at the Mitchel Boulevard office proved amicable, knowledgeable, and pedantic in helping me solve that issue. Most importantly, JCS efforts were effective to a degree that exceeded my expectations. My problem was resolved smoothly, according to schedule and with great care for perfection. Leading the efforts of the JCS team was Dr. Michael Pikos, a renowned oral surgeon specializing in bone augmentation. His expertise was matched only by his gracious and straight-forward approach. Working parallel to him was Philip Hedger, DMD, a detail-oriented and affable Prosthodontist who takes pride in his work as he ensured that my implants fitted accurately and to perfection. Dr. Nicole Hernandez and her staff are the most wonderful group of medical professionals I have ever experienced. My dental anxiety was elevated from a difficult, recent, experience with an attempted extraction. In that situation I was not able to get numb enough and was in immense pain. I decided to take my case to Coastal Jaw and it was the best medical decision I've ever made. Dr. Hernandez gave me a number of options for sedation. She explained the benefits and risks for each. We ultimately decided on an oral sedation and nitrous oxide. I was a bit anxious going into the procedure but her confidence and reassurance made all the difference. She was able to get me completely numb with local anesthetic and the anxiety was totally alleviated by the oral sedation and nitrous. I went from feeling awful pain in the first attempted exctraction at another office, to having 0 pain during this procedure at Coastal Jaw.
