I recently returned from an unforgettable experience on Micato Safaris "The Soul of India" Classic India Journey. My introduction to Micato was an unannounced phone call to enquire about their offerings in India. This was when I was still deciding what travel advisor I would use for my first trip to India. Lucky for me, I connected with Marion Miller, who I immediately trusted in terms of her experience, knowledge, honesty and willingness to address my often naive questions. As Marion had assured me, I was never left on my own in India, escorts got me to and from every airport, and on arrival I met Hem Singh, our Travel Director, who anticipated my needs, educated me about every city, temple, fort, ceremony we visited, and made all of my inclusions clear including meals at any of the restaurants in five-star hotels, gratuities, laundry and more. I opted for a post-trip extension to Ananda in the Himalayas, an Ayurvedic holistic spa which exceeded my highest expectations. I look forward to returning when next I'm in India. In addition to Marion and Hem, I would like to single out Dr. Naresh Perumbuduri, the Ayurvedic MD with whom I met upon arrival at Ananda, and the chef and other members of the staff in the restaurant who catered to my every preference, as well as the massage therapists, and all the staff members at Ananda.

We did the Micato Safari soul of India and it was absolutely amazing!!!! I highly recommend using Micato. They take care of you from start to finish absolutely no worries.. There was a total of 11 of us, which was a perfect size. We got to meet some great people as usual and experience things that I think we would never ever experience in our lifetime.. We absolutely got to see the soul of India and we love traveling all over the world and we ranked that in the top five places we’ve ever been to. We went with zero expectations and we’re just blown away on everything we did.. We got to see how some of the people live and how they make do with what they have, very poor but living life to its fullest.We got to see the Taj Mahal, which was absolutely stunning and for me to highlight was seeing the Bengal Tigers…. that was incredible. I like the fact that Micato doesn’t overextend themselves. They do Africa and India and they specialize in it and it’s 100% first class.. They kept us busy every single day and at the same time gave us our downtime which we truly loved. It was 100% worth it and we are already planning our next trip to go back to Africa through Micato of course. Our guide Hem,was very knowledgeable and was on top of everything checking with us on a daily basis to make sure we were all OK offering extra little excursions if we wanted to join. mercado continues to do a great job and I will always highly recommend them as a number one tour group!!!!! We’ve done three tours through Mercado and every single one has been absolutely amazing. We are planning our next one in 2026 with our entire family.!!!! Looking forward to it

First, a disclosure: we own and operate a concierge travel service that provides travel planning for a highly affluent clientele. In part what follows is an assessment from that perspective, but it also reflects our personal experience as clients of Micato, which sets the World Standard for Excellence in travel to Africa and India.
First, we have access to and partnerships with the world’s leading travel providers. When clients come to us with an interest in travel to Africa or India, Micato is always our first choice. Travel to these destinations can be challenging, but the Micato experience, from the moment of a client’s first planning call to the time that they step onto the plane to return home, is always handled with the utmost attention to detail and the client’s needs. They employ a cadre of destination professionals and tour directors who are the very best in the business. Every aspect of the journey, from the presentation of an itinerary package that is stunning to the day to day experience of touring, dining, and overnight accommodations reflects a constant drive for perfection.
So, when it came time to plan our once-in-a-lifetime trip to India for ourselves, we turned to Micato. Micato’s legendary planner Marion Miller listened carefully to our wish list and ultimately presented us with an itinerary that exactly matched our dreams.
When the day come to travel to India came our level of anticipation was off the charts. Stepping off the plane in New Delhi we were immediately met by a Micato rep who took us to meet Micato’s Michael Haidar Ali and our personal tour director Puneet Dan. We were driven to Leela Palace, our initial hotel in India. Like each of the hotels booked for us (mostly former royal residences), our accommodations were excellent. Puneet ordered a snack for us to enjoy with him as we plotted the first day and we retired for the evening.
Over the next three weeks Puneet was constantly at our disposal, and shared his encyclopedic knowledge of Indian history and culture as we visited shrines, markets, and historic attractions that played pivotal roles in Indian history. After our visits to these sites, we were immediately met by Gulab, our unflappable driver, who always ensured that our vehicle was immaculately clean and stocked with snacks and beverages, to take us to our next destination.
I could go on forever, but every day it was clear that Puneet, Gulab and the entire Micato team were working to make this THE perfect Indian experience. Upon learning of my interest in motorcycling, Puneet arranged for me to ride a Royal Enfield, set up a meeting with a fellow BMW Motorrad aficionado, and took me to a shrine celebrating a motorcycle legend. None of that was preplanned…like many other things we did, he just made it happen. Magical.
Our trip took us to Delhi, Agra, Ranthambore, Jaipur, Udaipur, Jodhpur, Varanasi, and Mumbai. It was a long journey, but every day was absolutely perfect.
A journey to Africa or India is a considerable investment of time and money, regardless of how you do it. These can be daunting destinations, so you must deal with professionals. Bearing that in mind, there can be no other choice than Micato. They truly set the World Standard of Excellence in Travel. Really, there is no other company that matches their constant pursuit of perfection if you are looking for the ultimate experience in Africa or India.

We're often asked, "what are your top three trips?" Well, Micato's India just hit the list!!! 'Amazing trip' is such an understatement. Our guide, Naveen Bhatt was constantly present and knew the key to every door and gate in every city. He knew the best vantage points from which to take pictures and when to avoid certain crowds. Accommodations were, as we have come to expect from Micato, totally top tier! And, in keeping with the tour name, "The Soul of India", we were deeply involved with seemingly every aspect of India in a very short time frame.
we really felt a part of each place we visited. This trip is for those who want to EXPERIENCE India, not see it from afar. This is the real deal!
And Bhutan -- this extension was other-worldly! At 75, we were among the oldest to make the trip to the top of Tiger's Nest (I'm sure we are NOT record holders, but...). What an experience! And the people of Bhutan are, as advertised, a very happy people. Wonderful extension!

The absolute trip of a lifetime. We had an amazing guide and truly enjoyed everything each of these beautiful cities had to offer. Each location offered a variety of delicious food, new things to explore and life changing moments. This is a great introduction to a phenomenal country and culture like no other. Highly recommend. Can’t wait for the next time we visit India. Impossible not to fall in love.

This was a trip of a lifetime. The whole Micato experience is hard to imagine or believe until you experience it. Our three weeks in India were amazing in no small part due to our guide KV. He was exceptional. The accomodations were incredible. Micato thinks of everything and any reasonable request is immediately fulfilled. I would unconditionally recommend Micato.

Micato is by far the premier travel company for adventurous people. We have been traveling with them in Africa and India for many years. We just came back from Leh, India where we found 4 Snow Leopards. The accommodations, vehicles, tour guides and rangers, airport assistance, and literally every single detail is taken care of to perfection. 5 Starts is not enough for Micato.

Being a solo traveler, India seemed out of reach, but the team and my amazing travel director Hem had me feeling prepared, safe, and learning more than I could have imagined and staying in the most beautiful places. My husband and I traveled for 3 weeks in India with Micato Safaris and it was fabulous! We worked with a wonderful planner to design a custom trip for my 60th birthday. The hotels, excursions and pace was perfect. I received extremely thoughtful, and unexpected, birthday surprises throughout the trip, which made it even more special.
Our guide and driver were professional, but great fun to share time with! They took very good care of us. Changes were made on the fly as needed, without any problems, a forgotten watch charger and a prescription were delivered to our room in another city, when we accidently left them behind.
At the end of the trip, Micato packaged up all our purchases, as well as the beautiful items they gifted us with on the trip, and had them shipped to our home, so we could travel on to our next location, without all the extra baggage. In the future, when I travel to an area that is serviced by Micato, I will absolutely choose to travel with them again!

Our recent safari with Micato in Tanzania was nothing short of extraordinary! From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed by our incredible guides, Denis and Grace. Their knowledge, enthusiasm, and genuine passion for the wildlife and landscapes of Tanzania made our experience truly unforgettable.
Our journey took us to the breathtaking Ngorongoro Crater, where we were awestruck by the sheer diversity of wildlife. Denis and Arnold expertly navigated the terrain, ensuring we had front-row seats to witness the majestic lions, graceful elephants, and even a rare sighting of the elusive rhino. Their keen eyes and deep understanding of animal behavior made every moment in the crater a thrilling adventure.
The Serengeti was another highlight of our trip. We were fortunate to witness the Great Migration, a spectacle that left us speechless. Denis and Grace's insights into the migration patterns and their ability to position us perfectly for viewing the massive herds of wildebeest and zebras were remarkable. We also had the privilege of seeing cheetahs and multiple prides of lions lounging in the golden savannah.
Throughout our safari, the Micato team's hospitality and attention to detail were impeccable. They went above and beyond to ensure our comfort and satisfaction, making us feel like part of the Micato family. Their stories, humor, and warmth added a personal touch that made our safari experience even more special.
In summary, our Micato safari in Tanzania was a dream come true, thanks to the exceptional guidance of Denis, Grace and Arnold. This past month, February 2025, my daughter and I joined a small group of former Micato Safari travelers and toured India. This was my fourth trip to India and it was by far the best tour I have ever taken. The itinerary was called ‘Soul of India’ and it was true to its name. We met in Delhi and crisscrossed the continent over the next three weeks. Our hotels (Oberoi and TAJ) were exceptional as was our seasoned guide, Puneet Dan. With over twenty-five years of experience, he was a walking encyclopedia. As chance would have it, India was celebrating the largest of its festivals, Maha Kumbh Mele, with about four million people gathering to bathe and celebrate in the Ganges. The crowds teemed with excitement from Agra to Veranasi and we were in the center of it all. We slipped up to Ranthambore National Park to meet India’s famous tigers and watch Riddli’s three cubs learning how to hunt. In Jaipur the lure of jewelry caught our attention and the Gem Palace did not disappoint. If custom jewelry was not your penchant there were beautiful hand-printed fabrics and silks. Mumbai was the last city on the group itinerary. It was a special contrast to life in the Northern part of the country with its old Gothic buildings and Tiffin system. We had arranged an extension to the State of Kerala (after our new found friends headed home). There we floated on a massive lake in a houseboat; toured Fort Cochin one of earliest settlements in the South, and enjoyed our hotels’ spa.

Phillip, our Tour Director, was top shelf - unbelievably knowledgeable, remarkably personal & professional, fun to be around, handles every need no matter how big or small, made our journey so seamless & effortless, including the process of each location change. The entire Micato team we met on the tour reflected the same high quality of performance. I don’t know what they could improve. We fell in with the people & animals of Kenya & Tanzania as well as the spectacular & ever changing topography & vegetation. He gave us a appreciation for all the well known sites and also exposed us to some of the "real" Indian. Our seventh trip with Micato Safaris was to amazing India. All previous trips with Micato had been to Africa and were wonderful, so we had great expectations, which were frankly exceeded. India had been a place we were eager to visit and did so as a celebration of our 50th anniversary. Our incredible guide, Hem Singh, was a wealth of information and had an uncanny ability to sense any need or desire we had. He also performed double duty as an additional photographer whose photos were some of our best. The well designed itinerary had a good mix of active sightseeing and sufficient down time for rest and recovery. We felt we saw and experienced so much in only two weeks! After our previous adventures with Micato, we knew that our best option to learn about and explore India was with them. There's still more for us to see, Micato, so expect us back!

Exclusive access in places marked "Private": Superb cuisine, accommodations and vehicles and an ambassador with us every step of the way with insider knowledge and insights! Many interactions with local residents and the opportunity to see village life up close and personal. It was a long party with lots of surprises and amazing experiences! My husband and I recently took a Grand Safari with Micato and it totally outshined our highest expectations. Every day and each experience was outstanding. Leaving us wondering how tomorrow could be better than today, but it always was. We were fortunate to view and enjoy all the wild safari animals we had high hopes to see. It was the expert Guides and their knowledge that made many of our treasured memories possible.
Anthony, our main Guide made certain that there was never a disappointment. His knowledge of every aspect and detail from
animals, plants, culture, history, food, accommodations and travel and natural surroundings was frankly incredible.
We clearly had the most outstanding luxury accommodations to return from our daily safaris and reflect on our amazing activities each day. We traveled a lot to visit six National Parks and three countries. I personally am not a fan of "Travel Days" but found I was eager to encounter every daily adventure.
I did not truly understand Africa, and now that I have been, can only say it is a place to go and you must experience. We all know the photography is stunning but, being a part of the animals and culture is an experience without words.

My husband and I went on a wonderful Micato trip to India in late January, 2025. We have travelled extensively through the years, and this was the best organized journey we have ever been on, which is not an exaggeration. First, we loved India, the people we met, the cultural experiences, and the many places we saw. There were only 6 people in our group, all lovely and compatible, and an amazing guide, Puneet Dan. The hotels that Micato chose were superb, either Oberoi or Taj, and the service was impeccable. From a sunrise service in Varanasi on the Ganges River, seeing the beautiful Taj Mahal in the early morning mist, tigers on early morning game drives, amazing markets, temples, museums and cultural sights, the journey was superb. I highly recommend India, and can't imagine going with any other company than Micato.
