Where to begin?
Bless, our personal Micato Safari director/ leader, was with us from beginning to end. After almost two weeks in Tanzania, with their final hug goodbye, our 10 1/2 year old grandson wiped away tears. Bless even watched through the window as we were making our way through security when we were leaving Tanzania at JRO. Our grandson and Bless fist-bumped one last time through the glass. This was more than a safari, our Micato Safari was life-changing especially for this pre-teen.
Kips, our main driver, also developed a wonderful relationship with our grandson, who is all about vehicles. Additionally, we all enjoyed Kips’ sense of humor and catchy phrases (POP - pile of poop, Wartlets baby warthogs). Kips traversed a hill (small mountain) and brought us up to the baboons for a sundowner! What an experience that was for us all!
From the beginning, Carson, our Micato specialist “held our hand” throughout the process and never let go until she ably passed us to the Micato team in Tanzania. We can’t thank them enough for their expertise and thoughtfulness.

It has been 6 months since our Micato Safari. It would have been very easy to write a positive review when we returned as everything that we experienced was fresh and new. Now that some time has passed, I can truly say that our Micato Adventure was the absolute best travel experience we have enjoyed in 40 years of traveling the world! If our best trip ever was a perfect 10, our Micato Safari was a 25! When you continue to reminisce about it on a regular basis, talk about it often to friends, share pictures and stories with strangers you meet, see pictures and immediately smile, you know you have done something extremely special and meaningful. I know the memories we made during our safari will be with us for a lifetime and will always be among our most cherished.
The level of service provided by Micato is on a level all its own. They take care of everything for you so you can immerse yourself 100% into the beauty and culture that surrounds you. Our Tour Director, Bless, went above and beyond. I can’t tell you how many times we said, “no one does that,” but he always did. Every Micato staff member (probably a better term would be “family member” because every one of them felt that they were part of a family) we encountered was kind, generous, professional, service-oriented, and had a wonderful sense of humor. They are all incredible humans who love where they are from and love sharing it with the rest of the world.
As much as you go to Africa to see animals in their native environment, we were moved by the philanthropy that Micato participates in that community. Bravo!!! Knowing that for each guest on safari, a child was sent to school was a huge plus.
As for the safari itself, it was beyond anything we could have imagined. I remember Bless asking me what the one thing was that I really wanted to see. I told him “A big cat in a tree or a big cat with cubs.” I saw both within an hour of each other. I believe I cried a little because it was so beautiful and moving. I could go on for pages but there are probably not enough words to describe what we saw and felt.
Asante Sana, Micato! This was our trip of a lifetime, but I am hoping that will not be a true statement for long. We hope our NEXT Micato Safari will be our new trip of a lifetime!

I just enjoyed my second fabulous safari with Micato. They truly take care of everything that you could think of - including binoculars for each traveler in the safari vehicle!
The guides are extremely knowledgeable about the animals and everything you're seeing. The same guide stays with you for the entire trip and quietly sees to your comfort behind the scenes.
The drivers (in addition to being quite knowledgeable about what you're seeing) are great at getting you to where you need to be to experience the area at its best. I'm still reliving the experience of the wildebeest crossing the Mara River with a big smile on my face. I'm not sure how our driver got us to the perfect location to witness this amazing event, but he did it ahead of many other vehicles - very impressive and fun!
I feel safe and completely taken care of when traveling with Micato. And the icing on the cake - the tips are included so there's no worrying about the proper amount to tip or having the correct type of money!
I find myself contemplating what else I might like to see with Micato ...

If you are looking for a safari where everything is so well planned that you just need to sit back and enjoy the amazing trip, look no farther than Micato Safaris. From the moment we arrived, until we were escorted to the airport for departure, every day was a fun filled adventure. There were surprises around every corner, from cute gifts on our bed each evening to amazing meals hidden deep in the bush. Every request was met the a “yes”, from finding an emergency dentist to unforeseen flight changes. Our safari director who accompanied us on the entire 5 camp trip was an amazing individual, who quickly became our East Africa friend. I hated to leave all the pampering to go home.

My wife and I experienced a life-changing vacation like no other on Micato's Jewels of Southern Africa trip with a Botswana extension. Every aspect of the itinerary was phenomenal. Yes, we loved seeing the multitude of animals in their native habitats. As if that was not enough, the people we met, the cultures we saw, the topography, the accommodations, transportation, the food....everything was excellent. In addition, our Micato guide, Leslie Edgar, was exceptional. He was very knowledgeable in every aspect of the trip (history, animals, birds, culture), extremely kind and attentive to all five clients on the trip, and truly a nice guy. My wife and I are now trying to figure out when we can go another Micato trip (ideally with Leslie as our guide). It could not be soon enough. We recommend Micato without any reservations at all.
And by the way, Diana Meehan in the Micato offices in New York was fantastic at putting our trip together and making the arrangements for Botswana too. Diana was super.

Traveling with Micato in Africa was nothing short of extraordinary! From the very first moment, every detail was handled with such care and thoughtfulness that it made the entire journey seamless and totally stress-free. The accommodations were beyond luxurious each having its own charm and breathtaking views.
The daily game drives were awe-inspiring. We saw lions, elephants, giraffes, zebras, African buffaloes, hippos….oh and penguins in South Africa! Our guides were not only incredibly knowledgeable but also attentive and passionate about sharing their love for Africa’s wildlife and culture.
What really set Micato apart, though, was the personal touch. From the gracious hospitality and the exquisite meals, the seamless travel logistics, and the special surprises along the way, everything was perfection.
I cannot recommend Micato highly enough. They turned a safari into a life-changing journey, and I will treasure every moment forever.

I don't have anything to compare this safari company with but I can't imagine a better tour group! Our trip was beyond fabulous! Our guides and the properties were out of this world. Micato thought of everything! So many incredible details to mention. We also felt like we were in good hands if any issues came up. I feel so fortunate that we went with this company. We cannot thank Micato enough for the most wonderful safari experience! We were a family group of seven -ages ranged from 7-77. Our awesome tour guide Julius was with us every step of the way- we definitely feel that we made a new friend! In addition, every Micato driver and staff member that we met along the way was exceptional. We did the East Africa Splendor tour and spent time in Maasai Mara, the Serengeti, and Ngorongoro. Each place was wonderful in its own unique way and we saw tons of beautiful animals, including the elusive leopard and a black rhino. We made so many wonderful family memories and have lots of wonderful photos as well. If you are considering an African safari, look no further than Micato Safaris- they rock!!!

My clients just returned from Micato's East African Splendour, a small group tour. They were celebrating their 40th Wedding Anniversary and wanted to do something special. They decided to travel to Africa. I had worked with Micato previously for other clients. For this trip, I worked with Nick Schroer. He is very knowledgeable and helpful with everything I needed to know to advise my clients. He responded quickly to all of my questions and concerns I had. I must say that if I could give them more than five stars I would have. Micato is an amazing outfit. We had an amazing trip to Southern Africa with them. The service level was impeccable, the places we stayed, especially the Tengile River Lodge, were beyond belief. But most important, Micato took responsibility to remedy a situation that was just not their fault. We had a plane taken out of service that was supposed to deliver us to Vitoria Falls. Micato put us up in a hotel, and then the next morning, they flew us to the Falls on a chartered plane. We managed to get in all of the events that were scheduled, but apparently because we had lost a day they issued a refund to us for that day. And it wasn't their fault. We were met at each airport we arrived at, escorted through security, we just were treated like VIPS. The food was great, as were Leslie Edgar, our guide throughout the journey, Brett, our guide at the Tengile lodge, Kohlen, Brett's tracker, and Moses, the man who took care of us at the lodge. I just can't enough about this company. As I told my travel agent, this was a once in a lifetime experience, unless we decide to go to India with them.

I cannot praise you enough. The guides were wonderful Leslie was fantastic and so is Brett Moses in the dining room was excellent. They just catered to every one of our needs and the fact that they hired a private plane to get us to Victoria Falls was just beyond belief. The lodge we stayed at was just gorgeous. I think it was bigger than our apartment. I don’t know what else to say except that Micado is a fantastic group to
travel with. I would recommend Micado to anyone. And because of Micado we are now thinking of going to India, which we never wanted to go.
It was only room to give you five star recommendation. I would give you 1 million stars. I forgot to mention Colan . While we were in the Jeep, I fell asleep and I dropped my phone and we turned around and Colan
found it in the bush. He is an amazing tracker

More magical than could be imagined. Micato booked some unreal camps with awesome guides and then truly just let Africa in all its splendor take over. I'd book again tomorrow if the timing were right. Our booking agent, Leigh was a real gem in helping us navigate our trip. Thanks Leigh. Thanks Micato. And mostly thank you Africa!!!!

We did The Heart of Kenya and Tanzania and I will say that our expectations were high but once there, it was more than what we expected. The hotel,lodges and glamping were fantastic. The staff absolutely incredible and being greeted by the owner the first morning made it more special. We had Johnson as our tour guide for the whole trip which made it fun and interesting. Johnson’s motto “ It gets better everyday” was literally like that.
Can’t wait to go back to Africa with Micato!

Micato Safaris are top notch! We just finished a 15 day safari in East Africa and I am already wanting to return. Our guide, Patrick, was absolutely amazing and really made the trip a success--highly organized, knowledgable, and wonderful personality. I couldn't have asked for a better, more relaxing trip. We had heard about how good and complete Micato Safaris were and when we embarked on our very recent African Splendour vacation, Micato had a lot to live up to. And they did!! From our wonderful guides in Cape Town( Judith) and Victoria Falls( Dean) to our safari director( Lewela) and our drivers were all exceptional in their knowledge and attention to every detail. Our entry into every country was seamless, the accommodations were excellent, and our memories will be joyously remembered! You cannot go wrong with Micato. And the other four people in our group were terrific in every respect.

Before we even left for our trip, the preplanning assistance provided gave us a strong sense of comfort. From the moment we arrived in Cape Town, SA we felt the “Micato Touch”. From that moment forward we felt welcome and cared for at every point in our amazing journey. Our Safari Directors (Trevor, Leza and Phillip) were incredibly competent and caring and did everything possible to ensure that we had extraordinary experiences. They exhibited passion for the industry and their commitment to satisfying Micato’s important clients. The airport assistance, transportation, driver guides, tours, game drives, accommodations, meals, and all of the special events/touches contributed to an adventure we’ll never forget. It was also a surprise to meet Mrs. Pinto…an honor for sure. It’s obvious that Micato has been fine tuning their approach for a long time and are keenly focused on their client experience.
