I've wanted to go on Safari since I was a little girl. I researched different travel groups and settled on Micato Safaris. It was the most incredible experience! I hope one day to go again. Everything about the trip was perfect.And I have over 700 pictures that I took to prove it. To Micato Safari and all the excellent staff, thank you ,thank you, thank you!! Dear Micato Family,
On behalf of Fredy and myself we would like to thank you for the wonderful program you put together.
It began with our arrival in Bombay and were happily surprised to see Raj waiting for us. In spite of the long trip it was wonderful to see how busy and full of life Bombay is at night. The visit at the fish market was extremely interesting, just to see how busy and focused everyone was and I thought it was great that it is the women who are in charge. The visit to the laundry was great. Incredible how much clothing was being washed and hung!!! Raj took us to the Taj where we celebrated my birthday. What a wonderful treat!!
Varanasi was such a wonderful experience. Returning to the Taj hotel was so nice. This beautiful small hotel so close to an interesting and busy city. We enjoyed the evening prayers and ceremony followed next day by enjoying the beautiful dawn in the Ganges accompanied by the sound of the beautiful flute music.
Our next stop was Hampi. The hotel was so pretty and we enjoyed the visit to the archeological area. I had never seen temples in caves and it was amazing to listen to all the beautiful stories involved.
Hyderabad was spectacular. The hotel was wonderful. We enjoyed entering it on a carriage and listening to the stories of it. There was a wedding in the palace which allowed us to feel included in a local event. The city is very nice and we enjoyed the museums, the mosque, markets as well as shopping.
Cochin was very nice. We loved the Taj Hotel. There was also a wedding so it was full of life. The visit to the Village was very nice since it allowed us to see how people really live. We also enjoyed shopping there.
We enjoyed the boat trip from Cochin to Kukamarron. It allowed us to see some of the vegetation with its colorful flowers and rivers in India. The hotel was very pretty and it gave us the opportunity to relax and enjoy some time off. We enjoyed again going to a village and watching people eating and drinking, meeting a famous comedian and walking through a market. We went back to the Taj in Cochin and enjoyed a great lunch with Raj where we were able to thank him for making sure we had the opportunity to see India with him.
Time went by very fast but all the wonderful colors and scents of India will remain in our hearts forever.
Thank you for all the wonderful and thoughtful presents but especially for allowing Raj to be once again with us making sure that absolutely everything was running smoothly.

My wife and I recently traveled to India with Micato, our third trip with the company in the last several years. In short, the experience is outstanding in every way.
Firstly, you are greeted at the gate by a representative of Micato and escorted from the plane to passport control to baggage and to your awaiting transportation. From there, you are whisked to your 5 Star accommodations where your every whim is simply a request that is immediately attended.
Secondly, we traveled 14 days in country with an amazing guide who provided not only the "history" of the area but the events at the time the history was made, adding multiple levels of texture to the story of India and her history. The depth of knowledge and the ability to share that knowledge is truly at an advanced college course level.
The access to historical sites, the ability to visit with the local population and experience the true feeling of India was unimaginable. From architecture to cuisine to local culture to historical events, no stone was left unturned.
We recommend without reservation the Micato experience....truly an outstanding company and experience.

I will be taking my 5th Micato Safari in June 2020 and am taking my 13 year old granddaughter. I have been kissed by giraffes, almost run over by a silverback Mountain Gorilla, swam in Devil's Pool, fell in the Okavango River (thanks George Meyer for rescuing me), dined with Jane and Felix Pinto, walked with a Cheetah and danced with the Maasai all thanks to Micato. I will safari with Micato as long as I can climb in to the safari car.

If one could give more that 5 stars, we would. My wife and I are by any definition world travelers. This was her second and my fourth trip to Africa. We took the family, so this was travel for nine. The other seven had never been to Africa. Everything was perfect. Service, support, camps, food, game drives, guides, drivers. The planning by Meg Bufkin of Micato in NY was just what we needed. She and the rest of the Micato Team were responsive to our every need. My wife and I have traveled with many high end tour operators. Nothing comes close to Micato. Micato is so fabulous- takes the worry out of travel. They cover every detail so thoroughly that there was no thinking on my part-they totally exceeded my expectations . Fabulous lodging, fabulous guides, fabulous everything and the people of Micato are wonderful. I travel a lot and this is a first class operation that is worth its weight in gold. If you're thinking Safari then Micato should be involved.

We have taken two trips with Micato Safaris--Kenya and Tanzania and most recently Southern India. Micato has more than lived up to its excellent reputation. With a Micato trip every detail is taken care of and the Micato specialists work directly with each client to make sure their expectations are met. Our most recent trip to Southern India was planned by Marion Miller who was outstanding in meeting our requests. The guides were very professional and and made sure we were safe and happy as well as providing excellent information and history for each destination. We would love to take another Micato adventure and did not realize they went to other destinations besides Africa and India. There is a very personal touch to every destination.

For our family, this was truly the trip of a lifetime. From start to finish, Micato thought of everything, and then executed on the itinerary perfectly. The reservation process, working with Meg was simple. The staff on site in Nairobi was amazing. Perhaps best of all, our guide Denis was incredible. He had surprises for us every day, and when changes needed to be made, he got it done. I would wholeheartedly recommend Micato to anyone traveling on safari (we traveled about a month ago and I have already recommended Micato to at least a dozen people who saw our pictures, heard our story and asked us who arranged our trip. I normally don't take the time to write reviews, but I just had to recommend Micato Safaris to anyone planning a trip to Africa. Everything about our Stanley Wing Safari made it the trip of a lifetime, agree to by our entire group, and in spite of thinking this would be a "one and done" experience, I now want to plan another trip to Africa or India with Micato. From the time you book your trip until the day you leave Africa, they present you with surprises that enhance the experience and show you the level of detail that goes into their planning.
What makes Micato special?
Culture - the Pintos hosted us, as they do all East Africa safari guests, in their home in Nairobi for lunch, and it was clear from their interaction with the Nairobi staff that they knew all their names and considered them family. Our knowledgable safari director and driver guides only work for Micato and most had been with the company for over 10 years or their entire career, and they worked together as a close-knit organization.
Service - the staff seemed to anticipate our every need or desire, and they tried to accommodate every request. Our safari director, who was with us from the time we arrived in Nairobi until the time he dropped us at the airport for departure, worked tirelessly behind the scenes to make everything go smoothly.
Mission-minded - the work Micato has done with AmericaShare is noteworthy, and we saw the impact while visiting their site in Mukuru, in the comments of a graduate who accompanied us on our visit, and in the waves of the Kenyans in the Mukuru slum as we drove by on our way to the site.
I could wax on but it must be clear by now that I highly recommend Micato Safaris!

We just had our second custom safari with Micato, this one to Kenya and Tanzania. As with the first, it was outstanding in every respect. Our safari director, accommodations, food, bush pilots, and most of all wildlife viewing were all first-class. The efficiency of the operation and friendliness and skill of the Micato employees are truly impressive. The family nature of the business is very much evident despite the growth. Great company delivering a great product.

There are a lot of high end companies to choose from for Travel to Africa. I prefer to use Micato, they are considered above a 5 star Outfitter for African travel. Micato is very genuine, super knowledgeable, exceptional experiences where you feel completely taken care of. Do to their knowledge we were able to see a lot more animals than expected.
Micato also works with America Share which is a nonprofit Arm of Micato Safaris where they give back to the local community which helps support the schools, Lacrosse, 110,000 girls empowered to stay in school. They also donate to the library and learning center.
