10 stars for the PM PreCast practice questions/simulator. I had the mock questions for only one month. December 28 - Feb 1st. Took my exam on Feb 2nd and I passed.
My strategy - Studied Rita book twice, and did couple of practice questions and scored 74% on the simulator in late November. I still felt like something was missing. Around mid December I came across PM prepcast via a friend, I went through few questions and right then I knew that this was what I needed. Yes it closely mirrors the real exam. Overall, it's a little bit more sophisticated than the real exam. Which is a good thing.
My analogy is that if you practice with robust and tough questions, the exams will be easier. It's like going into a boxing match with your friend after you have successfully sparred with Mike Tyson. You will knock your buddy out easily. LOL. Yes it worked, thank God!!
Make these practice questions your best buddy, bring them with you everywhere! I take few questions every chance that I get. At home on my laptop, on my smart phone when I'm out. Sometimes when I'm in the parking lot of a grocery store I quickly do 10 questions, review the ones I got right and the ones I got wrong. Read all the explanations to the multiple choices. This is GOLD!! That's how you actually learn.
You acquire 40% knowledge from studying books/materials and the rest 60% is in practice questions. These practice questions conditions your brain/mind to understand how the PMP questions are being structured. Take short questions 10 -30, review and repeat until you are through with the whole question bank. Then go back and revisit the ones you failed. There's a 90% chance that you will pass if you dedicate your time and follow this strategy.
Finally don't waste your time studying the PMBOK. You don't need it to pass the exam!! I read the PMBOK for only 20 minutes and never revisited it. Thank you PM PrepCast and good luck to all the PMP aspirants!!
