Our house was vandalized Saturday evening and my husband’s new Trek bike stolen - the bike he would have ridden in the MS Bike to the Bay this coming Saturday. We went to the Trek store in Newark to see if there was anyway we could get him a new bike setup and hopefully ready to at least get in one more training ride prior to the event. When we relayed our story to the Trek employees, the first words we heard were from Daniel an assitant store manager, who without hesitation said, “You can borrow my bike.” Considering the robbery and vandalism we had just experienced, this was just such an amazing show of kindness and humanity which we really needed to be shown. Daniel’s bike would have not been the correct size, but from that point on, Daniel, John, and Ben did everything in their power to reoutfit my husband with a new helmet (which was also stolen) and everything else he would need including the correct pedals and clips to match his shoes which were thankfully not stolen. We got a call this past Tuesday that the bike was all ready to go! We cannot say enough about this team at the Trek store for pulling this all together. Their efforts gave us a reason to believe there is still kindness and goodness in people. Thank you again, Daniel, John, and Ben!! If we ever hear of someone looking for a bike, we will definitely be sending them your way!
