My basement renovation was extremely smooth and well organized. As construction can easily go sideways, I was expecting some headaches along the way. However, I was highly impressed how BB was on top of everything. All the trades were courteous and took pride in their work - very easy to work with. And the end product is stunning! I would highly recommend Basement Builders to anyone.

My wife and I had a great experience this year working with Murray and his staff from Basement Builders to design and execute on our desired short-term rental walkout basement suite, after a lot of research of possible contractors in the area. It was clear to me from our initial meetings that they had a wealth of knowledge and experience, not to mention their name alone, specializing in exactly what we needed (a basement development).
The end result was a beautiful, our ~750 square foot 1 bedroom fully compliant legal secondary suite (Jayman home, built 2021) with all appliances including washer and dryer came to life over only 4.5 months. The staff including Murray especially, were very professional and good at keeping in contact, including giving regular updates as well as being informative as to any questions/follow ups we needed pre, during and post construction. I also enjoyed the cloud based platform technology they use rather than firing a thousand emails back and forth, which also gives you the ability to see the tentative dates of completion of each phase of your project. The fact that this company offers a 5 year warranty on their work says a lot too, and gives you that peace of mind. One of the other pros I enjoyed was not paying just for a simple pre-construction design, and not being pushy on the commitment, being cognizant that folks spending a lot of money need to be free to shop around. Last, an additional bonus was that the company helped make sure we had all the requirements to get some money back from the municipal government's legal secondary suite program which now offers money back for certain safety upgrades to rental suites.
I really look forward to our photos going live on here and their social media pages once their company does a professional photoshoot of our project, as it is stunning and pure eye candy.
To conclude, I highly recommend Basement Builders and their professional staff for your next project, and to look no further! 5 stars!!! After all, why would Holmes on Homes be associated with any company, if they were nothing but the best?

We had a good experience with Basement Builders completing our unfinished basement. Despite starting the project in winter with unfavorable weather conditions, they delivered great results. The team was professional, taking full responsibility from start to finish. They were responsive, communicative, and provided advice throughout the process, helping us design the space according to our preferences. It's been over a year since they completed the work, and they continue to offer great and timely service when needed.

Finishing a basement is a big investment and it's natural to be careful about choosing the firm you entrust with the work. I'm writing this review several years after Basement Builders finished our basement and want to highlight a few things:
- The project was completed on time. Our home was visited regularly by the Basement Builders team to ensure that the work was on track.
- Extra effort was invested to protect our home during the work. The team installed a protective layer from our front door to the basement entrance. Dust was also managed well. The trades also used our basement windows (even when it must have been significant extra work) to load materials, where they could.
- No project of this scale is going to be perfect. We had quality issues, including some paint splatters on the stone for our fireplace, issues with our floating shelves, and so on. What's important is that these issues are handled without the project going off track and they are remediated properly. We had no problem getting these deficiencies remedied when pointing them out to the team.
- The big one I want to share. Basement Builders has helped us three separate times with warranty issues. Twice with LED lights and once with a shower door problem. I'm writing this review literally years after our project has been completed. The first time, our malfunctioning light was fixed in less than 24 hours from me sending the email. The second time, we had an issue with another light, and Basement Builders replaced all the lights of that type in the basement. The third time, again, multiple years after project completion, we discovered that the shower door in the bathroom had not been installed properly (we hadn't used it much which is why we had not noticed initially). I'll admit, I wasn't sure the team would stand behind this given the length of time that had passed. We contacted Basement Builders and they scheduled a crew to come and correct the issue, and it is now working perfectly.
We're very pleased with the way Basement Builders handled our project, especially how they have stood behind their work and been there for us when we've found issues.

We had our basement done with Basement Builders this summer in Cochrane. The experience from the beginning was great. The process of interior selection was very convenient and standard selections were already great!
We appreciated a lot of the trades that came in and out of the house. Always polite, neat and respectful. This was important for us since both me and my partner work from home.
The quality of the end product is great (better than the rest of the house ;)) and on top of this the basement was finished a week earlier that expected.

My wife and I recommend using Basement Builders for your basement development project. Knowing the right company for your project is key to success in my opinion and I picked Basement Builders solely based on their affiliation with Mike Holmes and their Google ratings. They did a great job, my wife's happy and we are not disappointed. The project was:
- 2 bedrooms, bathroom and living room, ~700sq ft
- Delivered on time and per quote
- Broken into three payments over time
- Incorporated custom cabinetry that they designed for us
- Old tiny windows replaced and cut to code size with wells
- We had nothing roughed in and they Installed all plumbing needed in the concrete with backflow valve
- Simple and easy interface with Don, Murray and Kristina. They provided ample communication on all design aspects.
- Multiple walkthroughs with Murray to ensure I approved the framing layout and knew what was going to happen and identify any issues or areas for improvement
- Their use of temporary flooring for the path to the basement was appreciated and worked great.
- Kristina's design suggestions and implementations were spot on.
They used an assortment of skilled contractors in specific trades to carry out the various activities to deliver the project and never was there a jack of all trades handyman executing a bunch of the project. There is maybe a wider array of strangers coming and going and we had to block off the dogs to allow their free movement was about the only issue. Their 5-year warranty is a nice ending.

Start to finish, the project was stress free, completed on time and on budget (actually slightly under). From management to trades crews they were very professional, clean/tidy and simply did outstanding work. The initial quotation was quick and effective and the management team was good to work with. The subcontractors' workmanship was good and they were all polite and left a clean workplace. The selection process for the trims and options was clunky and not well managed leading to delays in the completion but, overall, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Basement Builders.
