Besides the impeccable work they do, they also hire the best of the best. I always felt safe In my home and never had to worry about the trades that were coming in and out during parts of the process. As a single mom that was really important to me. Murray was a life saver and a total professional throughout the process and helped me anytime and every time I had questions - which were a lot. There comes a time in the arc of a man’s life when he finally decides to get around to “doing the basement.”
Standing at the crossroads, he wonders if his wife will think less of him, if, instead of tackling it himself over the course of a year (or two), he decides instead to hire professionals.
Turns out, for a while she will think less of him when she sees the budget and some of the inconveniences. But then, when it’s all said and done, completed on time in months and not years, and coordinated under a one-roof warranty with a level of quality and professionalism he could never pull-off, she will actually think more of him for knowing his own shortcomings (which is the true measure of a man).
Working with basement builders is a great experience. It’s a-la-carte and professional.
Coordinating the project through the website, with digital paper trails of everything, keeps everyone on both sides of the relationship on track and accountable. (This is a great part of their offering.)
Shout-out to the three-man father-son painter team and the plumbing guys. Great to chat with, very forthright and professional.
Scott, Murray, and Trevor are great contractors and coordinators. They work like one giant three-headed monster and keep everything on track, keeping us informed of any changes.
My wife and I were dream clients (obviously), so no wonder they were always nice - but they were also always respectful and measured in any constructive criticisms or last-minute changes we had. No escalating tempers or tension, even when there maybe could have been. That was greatly appreciated.
After they finished everything, I went ahead and banged up the walls installing TVs and shelves, and they offered to come back when I was done for another touch-up pass - free of charge.
The only criticism I have is that while their boutique interior-designer experience is great (in-store consultation where you pick all your finishings and flooring), be sure you see full images or renders of what the floors will look like so you understand how the pattern will scale. That’s the only issue we had, and Trevor and the team gave us solutions and work-around and are looking into that moving forward.
These guys busted their asses to finish things on time and on budget, in time for our holiday guests - who were markedly impressed with their lodgings (and also liked the floors).
No regrets. Great experience, and a basement that feels like the best part of the house.

Their team understands the full development cycle and consistently manages projects from drawings and permitting through construction and final occupancy. They run a tight site, communicate clearly, and handle city inspections efficiently, which reduces risk and delays for us as a developer. Their professionalism and reliability make them a contractor we trust for repeat work.

We recently did our basement with basement builders, the whole project went on very smoothly, they kept us updated at every stage of the project, quality of work is excellent. They are a customer focused company, they care about their customers, after the project was finished, while moving some furniture to the basement the railing on the stairs was damaged and the dry wall got some dings and scratches, it was very noticeable, we reached out to Murray at basement builders, he was very kind and offered to get it fixed at no cost to us, he sent Brad, one of their trades people to take care of this, Brad was amazing, he did a great job, he was very professional and polite, overall super happy with this company and highly recommend them for anyone looking to get their basement done.

I am writing during year two of our warranty with Basement Builders. So far, every time we have had a crack or a door shift, Murray has been on top of it, getting someone in quickly to repair any issues as needed.
Last Sunday, we suddenly had water pooling between out vinyl floor boards in the basement. Normally this would have put me into an absolute panic, but the fact that the vinyl flooring Kristin had helped us track down is waterproof and that it didn't have an underlay meant we were safe from major floor damage. (We have had issues with water leaking into floors in the past and that fear never really leaves you).
The other major reason for not panicking is because Basement Builders has come back every single time to resolve even the smallest issue so I trusted without a doubt they would come back for this. I called Murray on that Sunday. Despite Basement Builder's being closed on the weekend, Murray got back to me immediately, telling me he would have someone over as soon as possible in the morning. Murray knows our basement project well at this point so between the two of us we knew it was the drain pipe, so we just needed to hold off on using the kitchen sink.
Brad, Sean, and another lovely gentlemen (I'm so sorry I never formally met him, he's a pleasure to have here and always is here for big service jobs to prep the space) came the next morning. Brad was able to formulate a plan, and with Sean's help they opened everything up. Once everything was opened, Brad was able to see the exact problem and organize what needed to happen next to get everything resolved.
The next few days went shockingly fast. Yes the plumber needed to come right away to fix the issue, but we figured the wall would be opened for a while. The pipe issue was resolved by a plumber, and the framing dried out by Wednesday morning. By Wednesday afternoon, Brad and Sean had finished insulating the wall around the pipe, and had drywalled and mudded the wall back together. By Thursday afternoon Sean had finished sanding and painting the wall and baseboards as well as taping, sanding, and painting a crack that had appeared in the bedroom in the basement as a bit of a side project.
Normally I would assume moving this quickly would compromise quality, and I kid you not when I tell you both my husband and I were absolutely shocked at the high quality of painting and finishing Sean achieved in such a small time frame. The walls look better now than before the pipe had issues. Sean is incredibly talented.
During the busiest time of year Basement Builders absolutely went above and beyond with helping us through something that could have gone bad quickly. The fact that the floor had absolutely no damage is a testament to their understanding of the best products to use for basement spaces.
As always, everyone who came through our house was fantastic in their abilities. I can't emphasize enough how personable and easy to talk to their team is, it's like having family over whenever they come by.
Thank you again everyone! Christmas is crazy over here with three kids and when the youngest is a Christmas Eve baby on top of that, having everything finished on a huge service call in 4 days is a huge gift to our family. You guys are amazing!

My wife and I decided to get our unfinished basement home gym developed for aesthetic and improved temperature control reasons.
From our first contact we were impressed with all the Basement Builders staff members we encountered.Starting with Don who did our initial design plan and estimate. He was great and understood our wants and needs. The estimate and design were totally in line with our expectations regarding price and the layout of the finished basement.
Basement Builders were flexible and able to start and complete our project in a time frame that worked for us. Even before the construction began Murray was easy to communicate with and quick to respond to any questions. Bobby who prepped our house prior to work starting did a great job and gave us some expectations as to how the process would go.
The project started on time and progressed through the stages that had been outlined to us. We were very pleased with all the tradespeople who worked on our basement. They all were pleasant and very respectful of our house. They were the kind people that you would hire yourself if you needed work done.
Ryan our project manager kept things moving along and was responsive to our questions. Although I was not involved in the selection of finishes and colours my wife was very impressed with the options she was given. She was very happy to work with Kristina who was great at understanding her vision for the basement.
As the project neared completion we were very pleased with what we knew the finished product would be. Friends and family who have seen the completed basement are very impressed with the quality of the finished product.
Lastly Basement Builders gave us the three things everyone wants on a construction project, on time and on budget with no surprises.
