As a retired dentist with no vested interest in this periodontal practice I would like to assure others that they will receive the highest quality of care from Dr. Souyias and his staff.
I recently had the misfortune of breaking an anterior incisor (yes, such things can even happen to dentists!). I met Dr. Souyias for the first time when I appeared for my evaluation visit. His assessment revealed the bad news-I would need and implant, and the procedure from start to finish would require months to complete.
After absorbing the reality of this, I was amazed at the expertice shown at each step along the way. The equipment is on the cutting edge of current dental technology and each person who treated me was well trained, gentle, and very professional.
I was told that modern implants do not merely rely on mechanical retention. Instead, they have micro-perforations that actually allow the bone to fuse to the implant as healing transpires. This maximizes the opportunity for long term success.
My implantation procedure went smoothly. Post operatively I had minimum discomfort. I took the prescribed pain medication the day of surgery and immediately tapered off to an over the counter substitute the next day. Pain levels of course will vary from person to person, but for me this was not a problem. By the next day I was (cautiously) going about normal activities. I was diligent in the use of the prescribed antibacterial mouth rinse.
So, what can you expect to experience during your implantation experience?
1. the typical sounds of the dental drill
2. pressure on the surgical site
Otherwise, during the procedure I felt no pain, no sharpness of the instrumentation no discomfort.
I hope relating my experience can alleviate some anxiety among those anticipating implant surgery. I could not have had a better experience.
