I had scheduled a dinner cruise on the Spirit of New York and was really looking forward to it. Unfortunately, I had an unavoidable schedule conflict that blocked my ability to go on the date I had reserved. I called the company to request a date change and was told that the charge to change the date would be $50. Coincidentally, that this was exactly the same cost to cancel the entire cruise outright. When I asked why, I was told it was their "policy." Since it is my "policy" to not do business with people who don't treat their customers with any flexibility I just chose to cancel outright. So if you are thinking about booking on a cruise on The Spirit of New York, think carefully. Because if you have to reschedule because, say, your partner gets sick or your car breaks down or any other reason you will have to conform to their "policy" of charging you the same price as if you just missed the trip outright. There are other dinner cruises around New York, why not check them out first?
