I'm a Professional (Classical Clarinetist) Musician and 20 years ago I picked up a guitar and taught myself finger style following a performer - Doyle Dykes. Joe's course is exceptional with so many positive attributes that its hard to know where to begin. His pacing is excellent and his introduction to some of the fine points of finger picking are right up front in his beginning lessons. I took this course to see if there was anything I missed during my 2 decades or doing this myself and there were several techniques that are now clearer in my mind after taking this course even though I thought I knew it all. I teach music theory so I do know a thing or two. I am going on to review his intermediate and advanced courses and if they are as well put together as this one I think I've found a gem. You could not do better than Joe. Take his course!

Hi, greetings from Indonesia. I'm from totally beginner. Now I can play fingerstyle guitar properly. Overall, this is a good lesson, still as a beginner I still don't understand to using scales or chord formula. But I get to know what is it, hope in the next course I can use it.

So far, the instructions have been clear and even though I am not a complete beginner it is really good to be reminded on the basics

It opened up a whole new way of learning. It took me completely out of the box with the chord voicings and the way they were integrated into the picking patterns. I learned a few new instrumentals, The course was well put together. Joe is never intimidating with his playing, And he always came down to my level, rather than pull me up to his. And the main thing, I always looked forward to the next lesson. It was never dull and/or boring.

So far it is a lot of review. I have been playing guitar with a pick for 45 years but have always wanted to learn fingerstyle picking. I was excited to hear he does not like Barre Chords and does not use them a lot in the courses. I hate Barre chords. Have never been able to play them. on lesson 44 and anxious to get to the HC Progression lesson 47. Just enjoying listening to the classes to see if it might help my Grandkids or friends I might recommend it to.

I have been waiting for such a course for years ! Very well structured, great for both beginners and intermediate players ! So many useful resources, tips, techniques that we can get back to over and over again ! I still have literally months of learning materials as i purchased beginner/intermediate and advanced but already looking forward to more - maybe extension of intermediate ? Thank you Joe for such a wonderful tutorial !

This course by Joe Robinson is a great match for me. Joe is an excellent teacher, and he has organized the class in layers that are easy to understand. The exercises are fun to learn and play. Some of the earlier lessons (like the chords) were a review for me, but I still learned fresh, new tips from Joe. For instance, he chose chord progressions that are used in music that I'm familiar with, like Let it Be by the Beatles.

Joe has a very calming and relaxing delivery, which I very much enjoy. I find the beginning videos very basic (e.g. tuning a guitar). I know this is a beginner course so I’m very anxious to get to the fingerpicking lesson, but I don’t want to skip ahead in case I miss anything.
