53 yrs old. Just retired. Been a “dabbler” for the last decade off and on(mostly off🤨). I had plateaued a long while ago, and never got out of my comfort zone and progressed. I am committing to the process. I was always good with my left hand. Basic chords and transitions I was good at. My downfall was always my strumming/picking. I have worked hard for two weeks on my “behaviour modification “, and creating a “habit”. (During morning coffee) I do a lesson, then usually end up strumming for an hour or more with some fun, easy songs. Some of my lessons have been a challenge (blues shuffle etc), and I haven’t hit full speed yet, but find I circle back to them daily and am seeing progress. So far, having a lot of fun with it.I have a few buddies, also, recently retired who are also just starting out. We will be starting a 2x a month jam session to keep us motivated, and have some fun with it. I also went and bought a new guitar, which is much easier to play, a

I am finding playing the guitar challenging. I am a retired hockey coach and very process orientated. I like the process and believe that if I stick with it I will improve. I definitely need more than 10 minutes a day on each lesson. I love the encouragement that you provide.

Hi. I started out strong but it’s easy for life to get in the way. One way or another I am motivated to make it work. Your training format is attractive.

I’ve been playing guitar since 1979. I had 1 year of group lessons in my freshman year of high school. Since then I’ve played successfully for singing groups I was in, in church and for weddings. But, I’ve always said I was “just” a rhythm guitar player. I can play a variety of chords that I learned over the years. And I can do some finger picking. BUT, I’ve always felt like something was missing. I do very little with a picking out singular notes (like hammer ons and pull offs). I don’t play leads. I recently found Fretboard Wizard. Amazing!! It is filling in so many gaps. It really is as Tony says “opening up the entire guitar neck”. I’m most excited to apply the Nashville Number system to my church playing and also starting to dabble in solo playing. I highly recommend Fretboard Wizard to any player new or experienced. Tony teaches music theory in such an accessible format, and it will make everything make sense of how it fits together.

My desire to play an instrument has been on my mind since my teen years. I've dabbled a few times but excuses always won out. But, not this time. I'm a healthy 72 year old male who until 12 years ago never slowed down long enough to stop making excuses. This attitude change happened as soon as I retired mainly because time slowed down for me. How if functioned each day was always based my ego. I always knew what was best for those around me and myself and that cycle grew larger and larger. For years I was given the opportunity to follow Christ's teachings and to love, trust and believe in him. I was in control of everything, why give that up.Finally I've surrendered. To your question. The only time frame I have is when Jesus opens the gates for me. Until then my progress in many areas of my life will continue to follow the same plan that has always been there for me. The difference is now I'm listening. You folks have the tools to make a dream a reality. Thanks and G
