We have participated in several youth sports organizations for children 10 and under, and based on our experience, this has been the worst one of all. Coach Carroll showed a clear lack of ability to work with children. Instead of helping my son, he destroyed his confidence.Maybe it was an isolated case—or maybe not—because in several conversations I had with him, he mentioned that other parents had also complained about how he managed player rotations and that he didn’t like dealing with that kind of feedback. In my case, I approached him because my son was going through a tough time and felt very bad about his participation on the team. Even though my son was a practice player, the coach made no effort at all to build his confidence. Instead, he crossed his arms and offered a partial refund as his first and only solution. On top of that, our son's uniform came with the wrong name, and no one took accountability for the mistake.
