I first started coming here when they were High Gear Cyclery years ago. Actually bought my first Trek mountain bike there and the staff/service was always exceptional. When I decided to upgrade/buy my second mountain bike, I went to a different bike shop. Then last year, I decided to come back here because it was much closer than the shop I was going to. I was a little worried since I had a Santa Cruz bike (I also had a Trek Fat Bike that needed maintenance work done as well) that they wouldn't take it in for maintenance/only worked on Trek bikes specifically, but Steve and the staff welcomed me back!
What made me switch back here from the other shop was when I got a call from Steve about my Santa Cruz. He said that whoever worked on my dropper post last (most likely the previous shop where I bought my Santa Cruz) used brake fluid instead of the specified Rockshox Reverb dropper fluid. This can result in potential damage to the dropper if the wrong type of fluid is used. This definitely surprised me and made me think what other half-measured work did the previous shop did or didn't even do!
Because of Steve and the Trek shop staffs honesty, knowledge and reliable information is what made me choose and switch back to this shop as my go-to place for all my mountain bike needs. They've installed numerous upgrades and done maintenance work on my Santa Cruz bike these last two years and always do fantastic work. Not to mention how fast their turn around time is. There was also a time when I got a flat during a ride and went straight here afterwards to get it repaired. Steve took me in right away, repaired the flat, added more tire sealant and checked my rims for potential damage on the same day. I've spent a good amount of money with maintenance and installations, but it's worth it because they do great work and I trust them. Unlike the previous bike shop!
Thank you Steve and the rest of the Trek staff for their phenomenal and quick service!
