I came into the shop this morning to pick up my axle key, which the mechanic had accidentally left off my bike during a service. As I approached, the automatic door opened, so I walked in — only to be told in an unfriendly manner that the store was closed and that I shouldn’t have walked through the door. That’s hard to accept when the door literally opens on approach...
After I received the key, I then couldn’t leave because the door had subsiquently locked, which only added to the frustration, especially considering I had to make an extra trip to collect a part that should never have been missed in the first place. The discussion with the female staff member was unhelpful and dismissive, with little acknowledgement of the inconvenience caused and the fact that she was telling me I shouldn't have entered the shop despite the door opening.
Overall, this was a poor customer experience from start to finish, and by the time I left it was 9am and they would have been open anyway! I am aware I could have handled the situation better, but this was a puddle of their own doing and there was zero acknowledgement of that. Between the service oversight and how this situation was handled, it’s not a business I’ll be returning to, which is frustrating given that I had been using this bike shop long before it became Trek!
