Gotta give credit where credit is due!
A few weeks ago, I posted about cracking my carbon frame in half—a devastating moment, especially since I wasn’t even doing anything crazy like jumping. Cycling has become a big part of my fitness journey over the past year, and with the season kicking off, the thought of being sidelined (and not being able to afford a new bike) hit hard.
That’s when Todd, the store manager at Trek Southlake, reached out. He told me not to worry and assured me the frame should be fully covered under warranty. He set me up with his service manager, Cory, who welcomed me the second I walked in.
The first thing Cory asked wasn’t about the bike—it was about me. He wanted to make sure I was okay and hadn’t been injured when the frame broke. That level of care right off the bat meant a lot.
After inspecting my bike, he confirmed it was indeed covered under warranty. My $4,000 carbon frame would be replaced, and all I had to cover was about $300 in labor. Then, he gave me another option: instead of just replacing the frame, I could use the $4,000 as credit toward a new bike—even on heavily discounted 2024 models.
After some thought, I decided to switch things up and try an electric version of my bike, the Fuel EXe. Excited to see what this e-bike life is all about!
The only catch? They didn’t have the exact bike I wanted in stock. But that didn’t stop Cory—he went to another location on his day off just to pick it up for me. By the time I showed up today, it was built and ready to roll.
This kind of support is rare these days. And while I might have MF’d this bike when it broke, I’m damn glad I own a Trek.
