Definitely the WORST experience I've had with ANY cover designer.
1. Let's start with the basic - attention to detail:
I came to Getcovers to design the 4th book in my series. There *should* be an understanding that basic elements must match the previous books (fonts, font size, position of the blurb and words on spine, etc), but the designer didn't even *attempt* to match them. When I pointed it out in the first revision request, it came back a few days later with NO CHANGE to the fonts and positions, so I requested for a refund (this is another issue for later), and only THEN did they take my request seriously. This is something so basic. And it's frustrating to have someone who has such little respect for your work that it feels like they purposely don't want to get it right.
2. Inefficient
When revisions are sent back to me, the email says that they've "taken my feedback" and "fixed the files". Not true. The one who sends the email herself didn't bother checking the files before emailing them to me, wasting my time when I had to go through them and ask for SAME revisions AGAIN!
And because I publish paperbacks on Amazon and Barnes & Noble, there's supposedly two files that need to be done. They actually sent me a dropbox link with only the Amazon one being done and the Draft2Digital files with a back cover that didn't contain the blurb.
And even though I screenshot and said that the D2D files and book release banner were incomplete, they only fixed the D2D files and I had to request for the book release banner to be done, again.
3. "Unlimited revisions"
Yes, they *do* offer unlimited revisions. Not for the author's benefit. It's for their own benefit because they will not properly read and implement any feedback until you demand a refund (twice!). There's no respect for an author's time, and less respect for their (repeated) requests.
Conclusion:
The ebook cover process back is Jan 2024 was so seamless that I started encouraging other creators on Threads to use Getcovers whenever I get the chance.
After this recent paperback experience, I can say I feel absolutely *embarrassed* to be associated with this company and will no longer recommend it. It's not worth the time and repeated feedback you'll have to give, not to mention how little heart they have for your project.
