Missed deadlines, repeated omissions, and billing disputes
While the final artwork quality is acceptable (that is why they got 2 stars).
The overall process was frustrating and resulted in 3 out of 4 launch deadlines being missed.
I started the process on the last book of my series on Nov. 27th.
My launch date was Dec. 10th, so that was plenty of time.
Throughout the project, required elements were repeatedly left off designs, including items clearly stated in the original request. In this case, the series title was omitted from the box set cover, despite being explicitly included in my instructions.
Each omission triggered a “revision,” yet it is not disclosed upfront that revisions typically take approximately five to seven days. Requests to complete missing elements are treated as additional changes rather than as fulfillment of the original order, repeatedly extending the timeline.
Additionally, although the box set was included in my original paid package and invoice, I was later asked to pay for it again. This created further delays and unnecessary back-and-forth to resolve billing for work that had already been purchased. They did not even start the box set cover until AFTER MY RELEASE DATE.
This box set was due December 10th. Due to repeated omissions, delays in revisions, and billing disputes, I missed my scheduled launch. This was the third out of four books affected, which had a direct impact on my release schedule and marketing plans.
Clients should be clearly informed upfront about:
Revision timelines
What constitutes a revision versus incomplete work
How billing disputes are handled for prepaid items
On Dec.15, 5 days after the scheduled launch, I ultimately had to correct the missing series title myself to move forward with the book release.
