Casa de Campo......where do I even begin? 5 stars doesn't do it justice. Now I could be a little biased because I had the blessed opportunity to stay in Vivero 46, a 5 bedroom villa with casita. If your budget allows, swing for a villa. The personal concierge to make reservations for your meals and activities, the staff attendant to cook your favorite breakfast items and clean your home each day, and the private pool definitely make the villas a luxurious option. Dinner was a step above typical resort food. The spa was a dream, albeit an expensive dream. The resort beach is so beautiful and it has kiddy pools that my son really enjoyed. I think this time of year is considered slow and it made all the public areas more enjoyable because nowhere was obnoxiously crowded.
We stayed on the resort for the most part but booked the Catalina Island tour through our concierge. That was a nice day trip. It was just long enough 4.5 hours. Its a choppy 30 minute boat ride to and from so take your motion sickness medicine for sure. There are vendors there selling very overpriced nicknakes. We bought a few bracelets, a coffee mug, a bikini, and some sand toys for $337 USD. Ugh....... So buyer beware. Danny at shop 15 is charismatic and friendly but that's part of his sales pitch!
I want to thank Genesis and Carlos and Sherly for getting my accommodation needs met. I was concerned about reading other reviews with the villas not having air conditioning except in the bedrooms because my son is medically fragile. Even though I almost cancelled our reservation because we werent assigned to any of the villas you see on the website, I am so glad we didn't. It worked itself out better than we could have imagined.
