If you are reading this and wondering if Tony is better or different than private lessons, just do it. Way better, less expensive by a long shot and not boring in any sense. Have you ever played scales until you didn't touch guitar anymore? Tony is on to something and you should jump in. I have been a "campfire" guitar player my whole life and never did anything more with it. Although a successful singer onstage, a guitar was a prop (Elvis, Roy Orbison, Buddy Holly). Now after only two weeks with Tony's Acoustic Challenge (TAC), I am confidently playing blues, other chords than just a few and getting familiar with the whole fretboard without boring exercises. I couldn't be more thrilled at my progress. Oh, and using a pick was the worst part of my previous playing and Tony explains exactly how to hold it, how to strum in both directions with it and how to get better at it. I am finally using a pick without getting stuck on strings and actually played my first solo last night. I have now bought the Fretboard course and the songs vault. I will keep buying what Tony produces as he knows what us struggling guitarists need.

Since the 60’s the sound of guitar has always touched me. I bought one in 1973 during a big life change. I played around with it and learned some scales. When I decided to invest in lessons I was told I was doing fine and should just go it on my own. I still remember thinking “how do I take these scales and make a melody that flows?” Felling rejected I put it away for a while. Over the past 40 years through many life changes and many moves I have kept it with me. In settled times I brought it out, relearned my scales and a riff or 2 and then life took over again. Many times I thought I should just give the guitar away but couldn’t because of the memory attached to it. I retired last year and am in the process of moving again. I will be spending 4 summer months in an off season rental at a ski resort. A whole hour away from busy. Looking to pack something to do I pulled it out again and came across Tony’s lessons on uTube. After watching a few posts I joined. Project found. I have only completed a few lessons and first realized how much my body shrunk and fingers had stiffened so Thankyou for the exercises and my refound interest in yoga and posture! Going through the month challenge I can see where it is taking me and often find myself saying “oh, THAT’s how you do it” so the neurons must be kicking in too. I really appreciate the way these lessons are put together with clear theory explanations, pacing steps to follow and a few riffs along the way. I pick it up at every chance and am counting down the days to my 4 month retreat. Well worth it at any age. Thank you for laying it out so well!

This is a great strategy for encouraging daily practice. Tony is excellent at explaining both major concepts and subtle technique tweaks that make playing easier and more fun. I have been playing for years at an advanced beginner/early intermediate level and I find these lessons tremendously helpful. I started out watching Acoustic Tuesday on youtube and with his casual style and nice sense of humor decided to join up. Having a community of learners to share comments/videos/small wins with is also great. Keep up the good work. We are having a blast.

Yes, I recommend TAC based upon what I've experienced so far. I realized after a little wandering around on the website that I need to begin with the Academy with Blues 101 and the proceeding lessons oriented toward beginners. I have a good general knowledge of music from playing in band in school. I've had a few guitar lessons a long time ago but I'm starting mostly from scratch again and so I found where I need to begin within the Academy after competing part of the Fretboard Wizard which I also found helpful. I'll restart my progress in the Fretboard Wizard after completing some of the Academy lessons. After cutting my finger recently, I've taken a few days off and will resume in the Academy.

I sat through Tony's fretboard session for 45 minutes and learn more in 45 minutes then I probably had in the last year. Tony explains things so clearly that it's easy to pick up and Implement immediately. Tony truly can change your game and how you play. I was blown away because the fretboard had always seemed very daunting to learn but Tony made it easy! thanks Tony you changed my playing forever

I like that the lessons are broken down into manageable chunks where I can learn more readily. i also really like the concept of small wins and how members are always encouraged to talk about their small wins. This is a very encouraging way to learn guitar.

For decades, I did not consider myself a musician (I still don't) but I was always relegated to finding the song book with the chords in it to learn it. I never knew the foundation of it, keys, progressions, and how the "music was made". Least of all, I never expected to be able to learn to play a song by ear. Tony's method has given me some of the confidence to endeavor to explore songs such that now I listen to a song and look for the chord changes, try to figure the key, and the chords. Very insightful and well-prepared training program.

I'm a 54 year old male, and am a total beginner. Having Tony's acoustic challenge daily practice sessions has elevated my playing in only a few weeks.
