Giving a huge shout-out to Mike! I called Burlington Fireplace back in August, looking for service on a direct-vent heater. I'd had the heater for about 10 years, had constant problems with it, and had gotten somewhere between little and no help from the place I bought it. In fact, their service guy had come THREE TIMES between June and August and had accomplished nothing. I wasn't sure if I was even in Burlington Fireplace's service area (I'm in Menomonee Falls) but they promptly replied to my inquiry and scheduled a service call.
Mike arrived on time and almost immediately found a likely cause for the problems. He explained fully and clearly what was going on and what needed to happen. He was also very clear that since he hadn't been able to safely run the heater, there was the possibility that there could be additional work needed, but we wouldn't know that until he'd done the initial repairs. I appreciated that--surprises are not good in this situation. The parts were ordered and a second visit was scheduled after they arrived.
Again, Mike arrived on time. Although some of the replacement parts had arrived damaged, he was able to make the stove both functional and safe for use in the interim until another set of parts could be installed. This was HUGE for me, since the weather is due to turn chilly in a few days and this stove is my heat source. He once again explained clearly and fully what he did, what would be optional repairs in the future and that yearly maintenance is suggested as well as letting me know when to check for discounts on that maintenance service.
The repairs have not been inexpensive, but it is so worth it to me to not have to worry about the safety and functionality of my heater. Mike did a great job of educating me about the heater and how it works as well as some of the differences between LP and natural gas. I would give 6 stars if I could. Thank you so much, Burlington Fireplace and Mike!
Edit July 2024: Last fall, after finishing the repairs to my stove, Mike recommended yearly maintenance and said there was a special that ran from Memorial Day to Labor day. He also recommended replacing a gasket at that time--not an urgent matter and one that could be combined with the maintenance to save on trip charges. He came out and did the maintenance as well as the repair, once again arriving in the promised time window and completing the work efficiently. It was great to have a stove that worked properly last winter as well as to anticipate a problem-free heating season again this year. Thanks again.
