David is so friendly and responsive and his courses are so engaging. I bought my first handpan last year and have two now. The online lessons have not only significantly improved my handpan playing, but have deepened my understanding of music and music theory. I am working through the beginner and music theory courses and love them both! I took several years of piano lessons growing up and was learning new things in David's music theory class right away. David and Laurent make the music theory class really fun, and the worksheets are great for retaining what I'm learning. This is a great community for sharing and learning. I wish every instrument had resources like this! I would not be nearly as far along as I am now learning the handpan if not for David's courses. I'm so glad I found them!

Very nice courses given with so much passion for the instrument. Apart from this you also come part of a big family of pan players that share videos and ideas! Thanks for setting this all up David!

I too, have started David Charrier's on-line Rav VAST course. I am from a classical piano background and got my first RAV Xmas Eve. I chose the B Celtic Double Ding. It is a heavenly instrument and I'm so excited to explore it. The course is fantastic, and so helpful in every detail. Anyone new to RAV, and maybe unsure of its potential, or running out of ideas on your own, then I highly recommend this course. David, you are such a great teacher, and you make me feel at ease and inspired, as well as making me smile a lot. Thank You😊

I signed up for the RAV Vast course, which I am enjoying. A great way of learning, and of quickly improving my playing. I highly recommend this for beginners of RAV or handpan.

Before starting Masterthehandpan I was really bad with rhythms and did not understand the least of it, let alone apply them to the handpan! Once I started this 2,5 years ago, 1 year after owning my own handpan, it really brought my playing to another level and finally I was apply to jam with people in a simple 4-4 Rhythm and more. I would recommend this course to anyone who is a bit stuck with the handpan and would like to step up their playing! :)

I signed up for Kabecao's handpan course on Masterthehandpan, and its everything I expected it to be. Kabe is a great teacher and has distilled his lessons into the most important aspects of his playing style. You get to see why he's so excellent at what he does, and David's support in making these training videos is also unquestionably valuable. I highly recommend this course to anyone wanting to advance to the next level in their skills in playing this beautiful instrument.

I started the handpan class with my RAV VAST this summer and was blown away by the progress I was making with each class, each practice. And now the RAV course is out!!!!!!! I am in student heaven, if it exist... The content is now everything for a RAV. The sound is clear, the exercices adapted for the beginner level, you can follow it at your own rythm. I really recommend this class to anyone who bought a RAV to learn the instrument. As an old conservatory music student (in my young age) it is almost lilke having your private teacher at home with you anytime you want! Thank you David for all the time you put into this class for the RAV! - Anne

This is an excellent course, and as a complete beginner I am so grateful to have come across Master The Handpan! David's instruction videos are well-explained, easy to follow, and short, creating a feeling of accomplishment each time you complete a step. His experience and passion for teaching is so evident! He is a very patient, careful instructor and has designed the progressive lessons very well, dovetailing one skill into the next. He encourages us to go at our own pace, being clear that our skill level will depend on our commitment to the lessons and regular practice. The follow-up emails of welcome an encouragement, his quick response to any questions, suggestions for practice sessions and Facebook group membership for on-going connection, create a feeling of belonging to a group of like-minded people, and excitement about learning more! I highly recommend these lessons for anyone wishing to develop their skill with this beautiful instrument.

I waited ten years to buy a handpan and, when I did, this course was the absolute BEST investment that I could have made in my learning. I watched a few of the free videos on YouTube and then signed up for the course right away. I speak English and French and I chose to get the English course because the (tiny) language barrier makes the instruction extremely straightforward and to the point. (David's English is extremely good, and there is something about the accent that makes it somehow easier to learn. Like, he only says what is necessary. It's, honestly, a perfect course. There is nothing that I would change. The downloads came in my email and the printable manual is high quality. David teaches how to play the handpan, yes, but he also teaches about the MINDSET that is required to stay committed to the practice and learning. I think that he is a true genius and a gift to this world. I have played my handpan and practiced every day for a month and I am already playing full songs, inventing my own transitions between grooves, and expanding my practice. I highly recommend this course--a million percent worth it!

David is a very good teacher, is able to simplify hard exercises and is method is very efective. the videos are very well done, with a nice camera position, what makes it very easy to learn, also all the symbols that he created to teach us are very helpful! Thank you David for creating such a nice online school, I've been improving a lot my handpan skills thanks to you. Keep doing this amazing work, can't wait for the next classes!

This course i simply the best in the whole web. The way David instructs you from slow to fast, his motivational speech is not comparable to other courses which i would describe eather as cold. Here you can practically feel the passion for this instrument. After buying my first handpan 4 month ago i was able to play a small gig in a local pub. i fulfilled a dream of mine. Without this course i wouldn't been able to suceed and having a breathtaking experience. Thank you David!!!!!

I took up the beginner course a week ago as I recently purchased a Rav Vast. Honestly this course is one of the best things I've invested in. Can't recommend it enough for anyone getting into handpans or tongue drums. Highly highly recommend it... Thanks David for this course 🙏🙏🙏

Five Stars on the master the handpan course, the best I have tried!! I love David's approach, with relaxing time, experience and humor. And your own speed of learning... When starting It looks difficult but after a few lessons you get more and more excited🤗and if your are creating these patterns and change them like your Pantam sounds nice, it becomes a new world. And some songs get better and better! Up for the next one, and then the expert level, thanks David for this master course🙏

this is Lit before even truly starting the main class , just by doing the free tutorials ... I immediately started to understand the handpan and had huge progress in a couple of hours. I even got to write down my first creations by using David's method ! and it is easily understandable. so imagine once you complete the whole class ... you will make every one dance on your music , E-Z! thank you.

This is a very effective and fun way to learn. It is amazing how much you do not know about the instrument, when you first start. David is very charming and seems to be an overall great guy. The course is money well spent!

I am totally writing this on my own accord; let me say first of all - :) I was really happy to do David's online course to strengthen foundational skills and just to get in the habit of some more structured practice (any system is good to explore and of course has its pro's and con's). It was a great refresher and definitely got me in the habit of cultivating discipline to reach the level of playing I enjoy and aspire to. The new Dan Mulqueen Music bundle however has been something I have waited for for a few years now and I think its a total privilege and our lucky day to have access to this especially if you have ever seen Dan play live or listen to any of his music. There is something to be learned fromm every handpan player around the world (and any human or musician in general). I am super stoked on this new course and have a lot of respect for what David is doing because there are so many beginner players that feel lost. I think David's teachable course offers a great starting point for any level player and is pretty affordable too. I would say that I was more inclined to do these courses because of the credibility that David exhibits. He is accessible, open, friendly, organized, and receptive. This is really important in any teaching situation. In the future, I would love to see a course maybe geared toward some more detailed music theory/percussion/time signature demonstrations/bundle and perhaps a comparison on time signatures with different examples etc- as frustrating as it can be, it can be very helpful I think for us all in terms of understanding the instruments better and our options for creating compositions. Just my suggestions and something I would like to see more of because I think people feel blocked and struggle with these things; particularly if percussion and rhythm is a weak point for a person. Thank you David Charrier for creating this reliable system and highly recommend to anyone wanting a bit more focus in their journey with the handpan. You still have to put in the work- your playing will only advance if you practice. So optimize these beautiful resources the best you can beautiful people. Thank you and happy playing!

Enrolled in both the handpan playing course and the music theory courses. I love how David teaches this stuff, makes it about as easy as it gets to learn when you don;t have musical background. It also helps give a solid foundation one can build on for the future by learning to play in a way that is fundamentally rooted in musical concepts versus just making nice sounds sort of randomly.

I’m finding this course invaluable in moving my playing and composition along. Be diligent and the skills will develop quickly. David is very responsive when you have questions.
  • Shirley Williams
This course fits my learning style. I learn best when I can access the information 24/7, when I can go back to the previous session with ease, when I can ask questions and get responses from the teacher and others, and, finally, when I can visually see the hand movements on the pan. I love the overhead photography. This seems like it will be an affordable, self-paced system of learning. I can’t wait to begin to see my progress.

This starts off with the very basics which is important. Although I have tried to learn on my own for almost a year I found it difficult and slow going. Once I started these tutorials I have learned a lot in a very short amount of time. I'm enjoying this.
