title: "Turn creator mentions into TikTok Ads with EmbedSocial"
description: "Request rights on TikTok creator mentions, link the videos to your brand, and turn them into Spark Ads with first-party performance reports."
---

**TikTok Content Linking** connects a creator's organic TikTok post that mentions your brand to your ad account, so you can request usage rights, run the post as a Spark Ad (an ad that runs from the creator's own handle), and get first-party performance data. It replaces the slow, manual process of chasing creators for Spark Ad codes and screenshots with an automated, in-app request flow.

EmbedSocial automatically pulls in every TikTok video that mentions your brand account, giving you a feed of authentic creator content to choose from. From each mention you can send a linking request in a few clicks, and once the creator accepts, the video is linked, the Spark Ad code is generated, and the metrics start to flow.

To pull mentions you need a TikTok Business account for your brand (the account creators tag). If you are new to EmbedSocial, start with [Connect your first source](/docs/getting-started/connect-source/).

## Key terms

- **Content Linking:** the process of connecting a creator's organic TikTok post where your account is mentioned to your brand's ad account, so you can get data and run ads.
- **Linking Request:** a one-time, in-app permission request you send to a creator for a specific campaign.
- **Brand Link:** a reusable, shareable URL you can send to any creator. Once they accept, any of their future posts mentioning your brand can be linked.
- **Spark Authorization:** the permission a creator grants you to run their organic post as a Spark Ad.

You have two ways to get a creator's permission, and the right one depends on your goal:

| | Campaign linking request | Brand link |
|---|---|---|
| **What it is** | A one-time, in-app notification for a single campaign. | A reusable, shareable URL for an ongoing connection. |
| **Best for** | A specific, controlled campaign with a fixed list of creators. | An always-on influencer program, or when you need flexibility. |
| **How the creator accepts** | A notification directly in their TikTok app. | A web page, opened from the link you share. |

> Campaign links are invite-only. If the wrong person clicks one, TikTok shows an error. Brand links are not restricted to a pre-set list of creators.

## How to connect TikTok Mentions and the Creator Marketplace

You need two connections: the TikTok Mentions account brings creator posts into EmbedSocial, and the TikTok One (Marketplace) account lets you send linking requests and receive first-party metrics once creators accept.

:::steps
1. **Add a new source.** Go to '**Sources**' in your EmbedSocial dashboard and click '**Add new source**'.
![The Sources page in EmbedSocial with the Add new source button highlighted](https://embedsocial.com/images/docs/tiktok-creator-ads/1-add-new-source.jpg)
2. **Connect your TikTok Mentions account.** Pick '**TikTok**', choose '**TikTok Mentions account**', and log in with your brand's Business account to grant the permissions. This tells EmbedSocial which brand to watch for mentions.
3. **Add a TikTok Marketplace account.** On the same TikTok connect screen, click '**Add TikTok Marketplace account**' to connect your TikTok One account. If your company does not have one, you can use EmbedSocial's shared Marketplace connection instead.

:::

> Keep another browser tab logged in with the same TikTok account while you connect, or the connection will fail. Also note that mentions sync once every 24 hours, not instantly, so today's post may appear tomorrow.

## How to send a linking request for a mention

:::steps
1. **Open the mention.** Go to '**Social listening**', open '**Posts**', find the TikTok video you want to use, and in the post details click '**Invite creator**', then '**Request**'.

2. **Create a campaign.** In the '**Invite link**' panel, open the '**Campaigns**' tab and click '**Add campaign**', then fill in '**Brand details**' (your exact TikTok brand name, case-sensitive, no extra spaces), '**Campaign overview**' (name and description), and '**Campaign requirements**' (the ad authorization period of 30, 60, 180, or 365 days, plus the ad placement regions), clicking '**Done**' on each section.

3. **Submit the campaign.** Click '**Next**', review the details, and submit. Every campaign you create also gets its own TikTok invite link, which you can copy from the '**Campaigns**' page at any time.

4. **Send the request.** Open the video's '**Invite creator**' panel again, select your campaign in the '**Choose campaign**' dropdown, and click '**Send request**' to trigger the in-app notification to the creator.

:::

> The campaign must exist before you can send a request for a video, because campaigns are the container for reporting and Spark authorization. After sending, the status on the mention changes to '**Waiting**' until the creator accepts.

## How to invite creators with a brand link

For an always-on creator program, use a reusable brand link instead of a campaign:

:::steps
1. **Add your brand.** In the '**Invite link**' panel, open the '**Brand links**' tab, click '**Add brand**', then enter your brand name, website URL, industry category, and brand logo, and click '**Done**'.
![The Brand links tab with the brand details form](https://embedsocial.com/images/docs/tiktok-creator-ads/7-brand-link-details.jpg)
2. **Send the request.** Pick your brand and send the request, or copy the brand link and share it with any creator directly.
:::

## What happens after the creator accepts

The creator receives a system notification in TikTok showing your brand and campaign name, their video thumbnail, and the Spark Ad authorization request. They tap '**Join and Link**' to accept.

Once the creator accepts, the video is linked to your brand and automatically tagged with the '**Paid partnership**' label. If Spark Ad authorization was included, the Spark Ad code is generated: open the video's '**Invite creator**' panel, where the status now shows '**Approved**', and click '**Copy code**'. Use that code in TikTok Ads Manager to launch the ad from the creator's handle.

## How to track campaign reports

Linked videos unlock TikTok's first-party reporting inside EmbedSocial: organic vs paid views and engagement (some splits update in real time), 2-second and 6-second views, completion rate and view duration, unique viewers (deduplicated reach), audience demographics (age, gender, country, device), and anchor data when used (views, clicks, CTR, conversion rate). Without a link, none of these first-party breakdowns are available.

:::steps
1. **Open Manage accounts.** Go to '**Sources**' and click '**Manage accounts**'.
![The Sources page with the Manage accounts button highlighted](https://embedsocial.com/images/docs/tiktok-creator-ads/9-manage-accounts.jpg)
2. **Open the campaigns.** Find the '**Creator Marketplace Campaigns**' source, click the three dots, and pick '**Campaigns**'.
3. **Check the reports.** Open the '**TikTok reports**' tab and select the campaign or brand link you want to inspect.

## FAQ

**Q: How often do TikTok mentions sync?**

Mentions sync once every 24 hours, not instantly. If a video posted today is not visible yet, check back the next day.

**Q: Do I need my own TikTok One (Marketplace) account?**

No. If your company has its own TikTok One account you can connect it, but you can also use EmbedSocial's shared Marketplace connection to enable Content Linking without your own Marketplace setup.

**Q: Can any creator accept a campaign invite link?**

No. Campaign links are invite-only, and TikTok shows an error if the wrong person opens one. For an open, ongoing program, use a brand link instead, which any creator can accept.

**Q: When is the Spark Ad code generated?**

The Spark Ad code appears once the creator approves the use of their TikTok video in your selected campaign. You will find it in the video's Invite creator panel, where the status changes to Approved and a Copy code button appears next to the code.

## What's next

Creator mentions are only one way to collect TikTok content. You can also pull in videos by hashtag and use them in your widgets: see [TikTok Hashtag Posts](/docs/social-media-aggregator/tiktok-hashtag-posts/).
