On this day 12 years ago, on April 24, 2013, the Rana Plaza factory building in Bangladesh collapsed and over 1000 workers lost their lives while making fast fashion clothes. The fash_rev movement was formed in the aftermath of this tragedy. Every year since, Fashion Revolution Week has raised awareness of the problems in the global fashion industry. We join the Fashion Revolution campaign by showing you „who made your yarn“: Meet Kim Bình and Kim Ngọc, who are not only colleagues at our Da Lat Worsted Spinning mill in Vietnam, but also sisters. We are proud to share with you the result of a student collaboration with ifmparis : For her final project dora_kapus used our Jawalan 2/28 yarn for felting and thus created an almost antique looking fabric. The design for the dress was inspired by plastic bags and Dora’s love for hoarding. The final fabric was created by embroidering found old jewellery, necklaces, shiny gems and the like - things you might find buried at the bottom of a hoarder’s bag - onto the knitwear and then felting it. We are super impressed with the result! 👏
