The Casarotto route on Fitz Roy, Patagonia: 1300 m, 35 pitches, up to grade VII, with temperatures dropping to -20°C. First winter ascent ever.   Between extreme cold, half the daylight of summer, and weeks of waiting for the right weather window, every move demanded resilience and precision. #TeamVibram athlete matteodellabordella, alongside marcomajori, has completed the first-ever winter ascent of the Casarotto route on Fitz Roy (3405 m), in the heart of Patagonia. Back in 1979, legendary alpinist Renato Casarotto climbed this line alone in 19 days, dedicating the “Pilastro Goretta” to his wife, who had patiently supported him at base camp. Now, 46 years later, Matteo and Marco have taken that story further, proving once again that vision and determination can turn dreams into milestones. Racing utmbmontblanc is always an experience like no other and you need to use all your strength to deal with it. As trails4smiles shared after the CCC: “It was the hardest race I've ever raced. It was hard from so early on, about 40km, and it stayed hard for the rest of the day… The amazing part is, my being tired and it being hard didn’t mean anything. I kept pushing, kept moving quickly, kept picking up my feet and going. I felt super confident on the terrain, running in nordarun 005, especially on lots of wet rocks in the last climb and descent. Confidence in my fueling, confidence in my training, confidence in my mind.” With this mindset, Robyn climbed from 10th place at Grand Col Ferret to finish in a solid 7th.
