I’m writing this message to you from our warehouse in Texas. About a year and a half ago, we decided to transition from handling all our warehousing and fulfillment in-house to partnering with a third-party logistics company. At the time, we were outgrowing our little warehouse in Ventura, CA, and our team was maxed out. The goal was to lean on an expert operator to manage the logistics so we could focus on what we do best—product design and development. Well, as they say, the road to hell is paved with good intentions.
After nearly 18 months of struggling with our 3PL to ship orders accurately and on time, we flew out to Texas this week to pull the plug. Turns out, this 3PL was a house of cards that finally collapsed, leaving Iron & Resin and their other brands scrambling to rescue their inventory and find new homes.
As I write this, we’re frantically packing boxes, pallets, and loading trucks to move all our inventory back to California. Some of you may have already experienced delays in shipping due to these ongoing issues with our 3PL. For this, I’m deeply sorry. As a brand that prides itself on delivering outstanding products and experiences, this has been a humbling moment. Trusting a company that didn’t share our values with such a crucial part of our business has been a tough lesson.
The good news is we’re moving forward. By Friday, we’ll have all our product back in California and will begin shipping from our new warehouse next week. There will be some additional delays as we get set up, but rest assured, we’re working overtime to get back on track. To ease the pain of waiting for your gear, we’re offering 20% off all orders during this transition (use code: betterdays20). It’s our way of saying thank you for sticking with us.
Our customers are the heart of everything we do. Your support means the world to me and the InR family. Running a small business isn’t always easy, and this isn’t the first hurdle we’ve had to overcome. But you all keep showing up for us, and for that, I’m endlessly grateful.
All the best,
Thom Hill
