Meringues have been a simple dessert appreciated all over the world for centuries. It seems that they derive
from a 17th century recipe by the pastry chef Gasparini who, in the Swiss city of Meiringen, tried mixing egg
white and sugar.
In Venice it has always been a very popular dessert and can be found in large sizes or in the smaller version
joined together with dark chocolate, creating the so-called “Gondola Kiss”
