Inspiré par le réel et le quotidien, il transforme la vie ordinaire en poésie visuelle à travers des œuvres empreintes de douceur et de délicatesse. En 1915, il fonde à Tokyo le studio Mikasa, destiné à promouvoir la photographie, et devient mécène, participant notamment à la collecte des fonds pour l’ouverture du Musée des arts populaires (Nihon mingeikan). À travers son regard, Nojima laisse une empreinte touchante sur l’art photographique japonais, célébrant la beauté dans les gestes simples de la vie.
