Nyepi: the regenerative power of stillness.
Bali is known for its complexity, colour, and dynamism. At a certain point each year, however – almost always during the month of March – the island’s regular programming is interrupted by a collective stillness known as Nyepi. The lights turn out, people stay indoors, and for 24 hours humans introspect while nature shines.
Often referred to as Silent Day, Nyepi goes beyond the concept of sound alone, addressing the consciousness of the microcosm and the vitality of the macrocosm, sparking regeneration across the human, natural and spiritual realms.
