We stayed at Blue Lagoon for two nights in one of the lodges, and we had a fantastic stay. The lodge itself was very comfortable, and although the bathrooms were shared with the other lodges and dorms, there were plenty of showers and toilets, everything was kept spotless, and it never felt crowded. The water pressure and temperature were excellent. The food was a highlight. The resort has a main restaurant and a Japanese restaurant, Donu. We had breakfast every morning in the main restaurant and one dinner at each restaurant. Mari, our waitress on most occasions, was wonderful, friendly, attentive, and always happy to help. The team initially needed a little guidance with our vegan meals, but once they understood our requirements, they were alright. A special thank you to the pastry chef from Tuesday night (7th July), who came to chat with us about the bread and asked how long we were staying. The following morning we were delighted to find vegan muffins and vegan bread, clearly labelled as vegan. Lunch had slightly fewer vegan options, but the chefs happily prepared a delicious vegan pizza for us. Every meal was fresh, flavourful, and beautifully presented. We also really appreciated that Blue Lagoon was the only resort we visited in the Yasawa Islands that offered tofu. As vegans, having a good source of protein made a huge difference, and it was something we genuinely appreciated throughout our stay. Our dinner at Donu, the Japanese restaurant, was one of the best meals of our entire Fiji trip. Since it’s a set menu, we weren’t sure whether they would be able to accommodate a vegan diet, but after speaking with the head chef, Sake, he created an incredible vegan tasting menu just for us. Every dish was creative, beautifully presented, and absolutely delicious. Sake came to us to explain the dishes and later told us that creating the vegan menu had challenged him to be even more creative, which made the experience even more special. We’d also like to thank Mox and the rest of the Donu team for their professionalism and warm hospitality. It was an unforgettable dining experience. We also enjoyed several activities during our stay. The cave trip was excellent, and the boat ride there and back was stunning, with crystal-clear water and beautiful scenery. We hiked to the summit for sunrise, and having the trail entirely to ourselves made it even more magical. We also treated ourselves to a massage, and the therapists were fantastic. The house reef snorkelling was enjoyable, although not quite as spectacular as we had expected. Still, it was a nice way to spend some time in the water. The only area we felt could be improved was the dive centre. We are both Divemasters and were very keen to dive while staying at the resort. Unfortunately, the staff didn’t seem particularly engaged or interested in promoting the diving or even helping us find alternative options when our snorkelling trip was cancelled due to low numbers. We would happily have joined a dive instead, but there didn’t seem to be much enthusiasm to organise anything. It was a little disappointing because every other member of the resort staff was so welcoming and proactive. We hope the dive centre can improve this aspect of the guest experience, as we’re sure the dive sites around Blue Lagoon have a lot to offer. Reception was also excellent throughout our stay. Fei was incredibly responsive whenever we contacted the resort via WhatsApp before and during our visit, always replying quickly and helping with any questions we had. The rest of the reception team were equally friendly and welcoming. Finally, we have to mention the resort’s two dogs and cat, they were absolutely adorable and added even more charm to an already beautiful place. Overall, we had a wonderful stay. Blue Lagoon feels particularly well suited to families, with dedicated nannies, plenty of activities for children, and even complimentary activities such as the yoga class we joined.

We stayed at Blue Lagoon Beach Resort for four nights and overall had a very enjoyable experience. The resort is located in Fiji’s beautiful Blue Lagoon in the remote Yasawa Islands, and the natural setting is undoubtedly its biggest drawcard. The water is crystal clear, calm and perfect for swimming and snorkelling. The lagoon itself is the main attraction and feels like a giant natural swimming pool. We never used either of the resort’s two pools because the calm, warm water directly in front of the resort was impossible to resist. Snorkelling straight from the beach revealed an abundance of tropical fish and different corals. A highlight of our stay was exploring the world’s first Sculptural Coral Gene Bank installed off the reef. This unique underwater installation combines art and marine conservation, and we were impressed by the diversity of coral and marine life we encountered. We stayed in both a Deluxe Garden Villa and a Beachfront Villa. While both were comfortable, the Beachfront Villa was the clear standout. Having views of the lagoon from the villa and waking up to the lagoon in the morning made it more of an island experience. The beachfront villa also had the bonus of having private sun loungers. Both villas featured outdoor bathrooms set amongst tropical gardens and the showers were excellent, with strong water pressure and consistent hot water throughout our stay. There has been noticeable beach erosion in front of parts of the resort which impacts beach access in places, but this is understandably beyond the resort’s control. The resort offers a range of complimentary activities and paid excursions, ensuring there is always something to do while still maintaining a relaxed island atmosphere. Managers Kylie and Chris were visible around the resort and made time to chat with guests. Every staff member we encountered was warm and welcoming, with Nick deserving a special mention for his outstanding hospitality. The beachfront restaurant offered good quality food and service, with the chocolate croissants at breakfast and the desserts being my personal standouts. However, Donu, the resort’s Japanese-inspired omakase restaurant is exceptional. What Chef Sake and his team are producing on a remote island in the Yasawas is remarkable. The creativity, presentation and quality rival degustation experiences we have enjoyed in major cities around the world. We highly recommend sitting at the counter, where you can watch the chefs prepare each course and gain a greater appreciation for the skill and attention to detail behind every dish. Being seated there also allows you to interact directly with the chefs, with each course explained as it is served, adding another layer to the experience. Mox also deserves a special shout out for his warm hospitality and engaging interactions with guests, helping to make the experience both personal and memorable. The resort also offers a new high-speed boat transfer. Departing from Naisoso Marina, just 10 minutes from Nadi Airport, the journey takes approximately 2.5 hours with a brief stop and boat change at Paradise Cove, making it a convenient alternative to the longer Yasawa Flyer ferry service.
