My wife and I are staying at the resort next door called Oarsmans Bay Lodge. We enquired firstly about diving and secondly about getting a drink. We were told because we were staying at Oarsmans we would not be served for either. But when I previously asked whether we could use the services if we were staying at a homestay, they said we could use the hotels services. I heard from another resort that the two owners have had an argument in the past and do not get on. Im sorry, but I really dont care about your petty spat. I then emailed to say that I'd already stayed at their sister resort, Octopus, and spent over $1500 during my time there. They still refused to allow me to dive because im staying at Oarsmans Bay and they have a dispute with them. I am an international tourist that wanted to spend money in your resort. Discriminating against me based on staying at a resort you do not like is terrible business and the reason you are now getting a 1 star review. I've come thousands of miles to dive in Fiji and you are depriving me of that. You should be ashamed of yourself. Thinking about it though, prior to my stay at Octopus, I had to make a pre payment to an American bank account for the accommodation balance and food plan. So none of that money will be taxed in Fiji and it will all go to the greedy American/new zealand owner. I since found out that Blue Lagoon plan to build another set of rooms taking the total to over 200. That will mean another 10 boats using the small beach, dramatically affecting nature's balance and impacting the environment. Im sure their long term plan will be to keep building and eventually price out Oarsmans Bay, whose intention is to maintain the equilibrium of this beautiful and fragile beach. Please spend your money elsewhere with a smaller resort so that the wonderful Yasawa Islands don't get trashed like Thailand and other places.

Starting off my review, I want to say for the most part, the staff were lively and personable and the activities were more affordable with more options than some of the other yasawa resorts which is a huge plus. With a beautiful view and sandy beach, and a decent coral reef for snorkeling this was almost the perfect place to stay. However on the day we were to be checking out, we started the day off with a beautiful hike up the mountain, and as soon as we got back to the resort I of course wanted to take a shower being sweaty and having a long day of travel ahead of us. I was showering in the outdoor bathroom in one of the garden villas when nearing the end of my shower I just happened to look up and noticed a DRONE hovering above me, all while I am standing there completely naked. Obviously feeling violated, I informed the front desk about the incident. About an hour later the owner of the resort said he was "on the hunt" for the culprit as he said one month prior there was another drone incident involving another woman in the outdoor shower. We gave the front desk our contact information to keep us updated on the investigation, but it has now been 48 hours and we haven't heard anything back AT ALL. This is clearly very disappointing as now someone may have naked footage of me and they don't seem to be taking it seriously, the staff just kept saying they are looking into it or saying hopefully someone owns up. The laws for flying drones in areas with outdoor bathrooms need to be much stricter as clearly there are no consequences at blue lagoon beach resort for filming naked women, thankfully there was no children with us. Be careful if you come here with your kids, or in general if you have an outdoor bathroom because you may be spied on with a drone and they will do nothing about it!
