We had a wonderful weeks' vacation here with extended family. The swimming and snorkeling were excellent. The staff were lovely and very friendly. However the overall appearance of the resort was rather tired looking and we all found the food (apart from the breakfast (who can go wrong with eggs and bacon) was very disappointing. All of us (we ranged in age from 14 to 76) found it to be pretty much inedible much of the time. Having said this, I would probably return for the location - our room was smack bang on the most beautiful beach and the lovely hard working and caring staff.

Our family, 20 of us, gathered at Octopus for eight days for my birthday a month ago. Ten adults and ten young children. Octopus resort has the most beautiful site with gorgeous blue sea, lovely snorkelling, good food and beautiful rooms with outdoor showers. The yoga was a dream, thank you Jules. The booking system and transfers were easy and worked well. We enjoyed our interaction with the nearby villages. Pina coladas were good, but the rest of the expensive cocktails not great. That can be easily fixed and needs to be. But we were mostly disappointed with the way the resort was run. It wasn't FIji as I have known it. The staff were polite and attentive to us adults but seemed to be almost fed up with children. (It was the week after the school holidays). Our children were all under seven. Meals for the children were ordered, as requested, but were often late. Babysitters were nice, but didn't always remember. We had a lot of young, messy children, but that is why we chose Octopus, as highly recommended for that age group. We didn't find the warmth we expected or knew from previous Pacific holidays. The lack of organisation was especially disappointing. The kids' club was a joke, with children running in and out of its dark interior to find us, past a swimming pool, usually with a staff member watching, but not always. The kids' club at sister resort, Paradise Cove, was totally different the week after, with great activities and lots of enthusiasm from both staff and children. The other gripe is the channel out to the reef at low tide shared by snorkellers and boats. I surfaced, snorkelling, perilously close to a whizzing boat propeller. We were watching, yelled the customers arriving at the resort. My family were also yelling at the boatman from the beach. I said that he was going too fast near me and he just shrugged. No apology, no signs, no warning. Not good enough.
