Octopus Resort is in a beautiful location, and the staff were friendly. However, we were disappointed by how Booking.com presented the compulsory meal-plan charge. Our confirmation prominently stated that FJ$339.15 was “the final price” we would pay to the property. The compulsory meal plan was not included in that total and appeared much later in the detailed information. The confirmation was also inconsistent, listing the adult meal charge as FJ$179 in one section and FJ$189 in another. We acknowledge that the charge was mentioned and that we overlooked it because we booked in a hurry. However, a compulsory charge that more than doubles the advertised accommodation price should be included in the total or displayed prominently alongside it. As an older couple, with my wife managing a medical condition, we eat only small portions and felt we received poor value from the compulsory full-board package. Guests should ideally be offered an à-la-carte option.

Dorms were fine, nothing special but good value with AC. Food although more expensive than our other resorts was great, especially the Japanese restaurant. Staff always friendly and lots of activities both free and paid extra. Good for families with children's areas and a pool for kiddies to swim in. The reason for 3 stars is because a fuel surcharge during our stay left a sour taste. It was only 20FJD, but it was implemented during our stay and we had no choice but to pay it. This should have been implemented for upcoming stays with clear communication or by increasing the room costs for future bookings. You cannot just increase the price of somebody's stay, whilst they are ALREADY THERE, without prior agreement, irrespective of the price. That is not fair.
