I booked this trip because of the name—Bear Camp—and it really lived up to it. The bears showed up! Our small group was great, as was our Expedition Leader and all the staff. The chef was especially creative, and I loved both his meals and his stories. Add to all that the wilderness and water and mountains, and you really took me to another world. Thank you!

I came to see bears and WOW...did I see bears! There were more bears than I expected, and we saw them at much closer range than I thought we would. The boat trip was also a great wildlife experience, especially spotting so many otters and puffins. I had been thinking about taking this trip for a couple of years, and it totally exceeded my expectations! It was truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience for me. This was my fourth trip with Nat Hab, and all have been amazing experiences. Thank you for your expertise in planning that makes me look like such an adventure traveler!

My hope was to see lots of brown bears at close range, and we saw more than I ever dreamed possible! What an honor it was to sit and observe these magnificent animals for hours at a time. Our Expedition Leader was absolutely amazing. His knowledge of bears and photography is truly exceptional, as was his ability to guide us to exactly the right place at the right time to view and photograph the wildlife. Because of him, my confidence as a photographer grew, and I was able to come home with photos that I will treasure forever. I had high hopes for this trip, but the reality far exceeded any of my imaginings. Sometimes, thinking back on the trip, I can hardly believe it was real!

Our Photo Expedition Leader was amazing! He was very knowledgeable about the bears and gave great camera advice and tips on how to capture the perfect wildlife photos. I loved that we went out to view the bears several times a day—the schedule was nicely timed out for bear viewing and then resting and having meals. The other guests were wonderful, too—our small group of eight felt like an instant family!

I never thought that I would be able to look a full-grown brown bear in the eye at what seemed to be arm’s reach and not be concerned. But that is exactly what happened on more than one occasion! Due to our Photo Expedition Leader's preparation and calm guidance and actions during these encounters, I always felt at ease. His knowledge of bear behavior, photography and the Alaskan environment are all top notch. Based on our experience on a previous Nat Hab trip, we had high expectations for this experience, and it exceeded them!

To be honest, I was a little apprehensive going into the experience. My main concern was photographing just one animal, when my past experiences were with photographing a variety of animals in Africa. However, our Photo Expedition Leader's enthusiasm for the bears was infectious and made for a very enjoyable experience. His knowledge of bears created incredible photographic opportunities—his ability to predict their movements was truly a game-changer. The accommodations were comfortable, and I greatly appreciated the heaters and the recently updated bathroom and shower facilities. Transportation was flawless, and the camp meals were delicious—never the same twice! Nat Hab and the staff at Bear Camp provided an excellent experience, and I commend the company for the effort they put into conservation.

The trip was perfect and one I will never forget. Every day was filled with worthwhile activities—there was never a dull moment! One of the best was seeing the orangutans in the reserves and in the wild. I was extremely touched by their gentle nature. Two “rogue” orangutans came very close to us, and it was beautiful and exciting. It also offered us a fantastic opportunity for good photos! Our Expedition Leader was very enthusiastic, friendly, knowledgeable and helpful, and I really feel fortunate that he was our guide. All of the accommodations were terrific and exceeded my expectations. I was extremely happy with Nat Hab during the entire journey, and I am very excited to book future trips with you. I am also grateful for the level of service and commitment to the animals and environment!

The ambience at Bear Camp is amazing, and being so close to the bears and other wildlife was one of the most exciting experiences of my life! Even the flight there was extraordinary, and our pilot gave us a wonderful tour of the area. We can't wait to experience another trip with you!

We had so many opportunities to view bears, and we were able to experience very close encounters with several of them! One highlight: We were really hoping to see the COYs (Cubs of the Year). Our fingers were crossed, but our expectations were low. As we approached a ridge, our Expedition Leader instructed us to be as quiet as possible so we could carefully peek over. As we did, there they were: Mama Bear and her two cubs, just 30 feet away! At first sight, the cubs sat up on their hind legs and leaned against their mother, waiting to see what she would do. She looked over at us, then calmly went back to eating, signaling to her cubs that there was no threat. They followed her lead and resumed eating. That’s when I truly understood what it means to be in the natural habitat of these incredible creatures—undisturbed, raw and wild. In addition to the epic bear-viewing opportunities, I also loved the homestead tour.

One of my favorite things about being at Bear Camp was that we came to recognize some of the bears and bear families over the course of our stay, along with getting to know some of their personalities and dynamics when they interacted with or came across other bears. We got to spend so much time watching the bears and other wildlife, and I appreciated our Expedition Leader's vigilance, flexibility and concern for both the bears' and our safety and comfort. When it came to the food, we were totally blown away by how great every single meal was, as well as by how our chef and other field staff ensured that people with particular dietary needs were accommodated. It was wonderful getting away to a wild place where time slowed down and we got to spend quality time together.
