I became a contractor for the first time last year and had no idea how it worked from an accounts and tax perspective. A friend recommended Clever Accounts to me so I joined up. The introduction process was easy and my accountant gave me a tour of the online portal. Since then, he has looked after me and answered all my questions. He has been so helpful and a great ambassador for the company. I strongly recommend them!

I have been using Clever Accounts for a few years now and would highly recommend them. They strike a brilliant balance of an intuitive online portal with access to great accountants. My accountant, Matthew Horsham, has always is very professional, knowledgable, supportive and critically for me, fast. Several times I have needed extra support from Matt to understand the intricacies of my accounts as it is very much not my forte, and he has always been incredibly helpful, with the patience of a saint.

The online portal is pretty easy to use, and the onboarding process with the team was invaluable. Great value.

They started off selling a very polished image and a professional outfit for what, at most times, would be a turnkey solution. The problem, like all other accounting services, is it’s the accountants who is directly assigned to you that is key. Whoever was assigned to me at the start was, at times, challenging my previous providers for “worst accountant”, directing me to my own tax software to get interpretations of liabilities etc.
What a breath of fresh air to have been reassigned to Jimmy (I believe his predecessor left the firm). I now have confidence in the figures and the outstanding liabilities, and I actually get detailed responses to my actual questions!
Long story short, can’t say if Clever are much better or worse than the rest of the market, but can definitely say they recruited well by bringing in Jimmy.

Good accounting service, they recently moved from a proprietary portal to Freeagent which caused some bugs in my accounts and in general I was used to the older platform. Also emails usually will only be replied next day, which is not great.

It highlights to me that they have taken accountability and I can’t fault the measures they have taken to rectify the inconvenience caused.

My contract at Clever Accounts is prompt in responding to my queries, is courteous and knows her stuff. The only issue is that the Portal is slow to respond to updates and isn't as user-friendly as it could be...

It was easy to set up and the team supported me well with the process. Samantha was very helpful in explaining me how the software works and where to find the relevant reports. They assign you with a dedicated accountant who will communicate with you which I find very good. Always available at the other end when you want to speak to them.Signed up with Clever Accounts just before xmas last year, I am happy with the service so far. Provided them with my income and expenses for self assessment purpose, rest Clever Accountant did it for me. So overall a happy customer

I've been with Clever Accounts since 2016 and on the whole I have been pretty happy with their service. Over the years I've had different accountants allocated to be me. Started off with Matt, who was great, then Linda for a short time, then Abhijit who was also very good. I now have Chandan who is proving to be really good. Although this years company accounts cut it a bit fine in terms of timing, Chandan is professional, responsive and very helpful, long may this continue.
Reading some of the other reviews it really does prove that the reputation of any online accountancy business is down to the 'quality' of the people it has working for it. Better accountants = happier clients!

So far, Clever Accounts handles my business accounts very well. My accountant Amy is always available via email. This is despite the current situation with covid.
I've only been with them for less than a year so hopefully the standard will continue.
