We love our toja grid and pergola. We purchased a custom waterproof shade sail on Amazon to fit it and some lights and it’s really elevated our yard. We already had a concrete pad and found it easy to drill into that to secure it. One bracket came damaged and toja immediately sent a replacement out. Highly recommend this company. We have a neighbour who also has a pergola and bought cheap brackets from the hardware store and you can really tell the difference. We also used cedar wood and stained it which looks much better than the cheap fence post 4x4s.

We constructed a 10 x 12 using 4 x 4 pressure treated wood and found the materials to be excellent and the instructions to be very helpful. Unfortunately we are located on a windy shore so the first big wind caused the clips on the shade sail to fail. No problem though - we checked with some other local installations and found a solution. We wrapped the straps around the 4 x 4 beams and secured them with screws and washers. (See photo)
Hopefully this work around will help some other customers with similar problems.

The weather here in SC eroded the original Toja screen despite taking it down each winter. I love having it in summer as it is so hot here then and the screen alleviates that a bit. I love my Toja Grid patio!
