A short story about a Brazilian This year I made the decision to come to Italy to request Italian citizenship as I had this right, thanks to having an Italian father who was born in Tuscany. For the first time in my life, I wanted to learn the language, because I didn’t feel it was right to have citizenship without knowing the language, the culture, the people and Italian history. Looking for information on the internet, I found the Leonardo da Vinci School for foreigners and immediately emailed them to ask about the set-up and how to go about enrolling on the Elementary I standard Italian course, the most basic of all, given that I had never learnt Italian and only knew “good morning” and “good night”. For me, the word “pomeriggio” was some kind of cheese! The school helped me with everything, even to find an apartment to rent in Florence that was a decent price. After just fifteen days, I arrived in Florence on 6th May 2013 and started learning the language. What fear that you can have about something that is unknown, soon vanished, because the school was exactly how it presented itself on the website. The teachers were all professionals who did their job with passion and dedication and gave all the support that the students needed, so as to teach you how to really speak Italian. Today, after four months studying in Florence, I can speak Italian with anyone. I certainly still get things wrong, but for someone who didn’t speak or understand anything, I think I got on really well. If I could recommend a good school to someone, I would have no doubts about recommending the Leonardo da Vinci School. I will always remember the teachers and students who I met during this period at the Leonardo da Vinci School.

Great experience and perfect location I spent 3 weeks in Florence doing a SUPER INTENSIVE course and I can only say that it was amazing. The teachers (Donatella and Sara) were so nice and my italian got so much better after 3 weeks. I am a language teacher and I was very pleased to see how Sara and Donatella love their job and how they tried everyday to help students to understand not only the language but also the italian culture. I see myself going back to Florence and going back to Scuola Leonardo Da Vinci.

A Great Experience I just spent two weeks in Florence attending Scuola Leonardo da Vinci every day. The teaching was excellent by Francesca. She was very skilful, kind and very clear and was very good at giving each class member the right level of difficulty and encouragement they needed. I am 72 some of my classmates were in their teens and twenties and others scattered through all ages but this does not matter when you are all learning together, four of us had a lovely last lunch after we had taken the optional end of course test!. There are also trips and activities to join in to in the evenings and week ends. Some of the younger ones had booked this as a holiday between school and university, It was a very successful way for them to holiday alone. (My only downside was that I also booked art classes through the schools site for a couple of afternoons each week, which turned out to be a disappointment as they were overcrowded and not pitched to the individual. I have emailed them separately about this. But these were not designed by the Scuola Leonardo da Vinci but by the Art Academy. I withdrew from these.) The afternoons gave me plenty of time to see Florence. I rented a flat from Tripadvisor where it is called 'Charming apartment with balcony in Santa Croce' which I would highly recommend. It is 10 mins walk from the school. I am back home now clutching my certificate from the optional test!! Very pleased I went.

Una settimana splendida. Ero a Firenze giá per la seconda volta, purtroppo solo una settimana. Frequentavo il corso superintensivo con Ester, Carla e Gianmarco, ero ottimo. L'anno scorso ero allogiatta in una famiglia, quest'anno in un albergo. Firenze é una cittá magnifica!

Erstklassige Möglichkeit an dieser Schule Italienisch zu lernen Ich war in der zeit vom 20.11.17-2.12.17 an dieser Sprachschule in der Via Maurizio Bufalini 3, 50122, Florenz, Italien. Am 1. Tag wurde vor Beginn des Unterrichts ein Einstufungstest vorgenommen. Somit kam ich gleich in den richtigen Kurs und hatte von Anfang an die richtige Motivation. Meine Lehrerinnen waren Francesca und für den Intensivkurs Ester. Der Unterricht war sehr interessant und Anspruchsvoll gestaltet. Es waren unterschiedliche Nationalitäten in meiner Gruppe und ich bin begeistert, mit welcher Professionalität die Lehrer uns die Sprache vermittelt haben. Hatte man etwas nicht verstanden, so wurde sofort darauf eingegangen und in der italienischen Sprache mit anderen Wörtern erklärt. Ich habe dort meinen Bildungsurlaub gemacht und kann diese Schule wirklich sehr empfehlen. Auch das Sekretariat war für jeden Schüler zugänglich. Ich habe mich sehr wohl gefühlt und werde ganz sicher, sobald ich die Möglichkeit habe, diese Schule besuchen um die italienische Sprache weiter zu verfestigen. Zudem habe ich in der Zeit Freundschaften zu anderen Schülern schließen können. Vielen Dank an die Schule für die wunderbare Zeit! Detlev Blanke

This place put smile on my face Since my first visit 2007, I missed October in Scuola Leonardo da Vinci only once. I was sick. I could write a novel about how great this place but this time I will do it with only one word. Perfect! OK, two words: Absolutely perfect!!!

Un agréable retour à l'école! Je viens de passer une magnifique semaine à la Scuola Leonardo da Vinci de Florence en vue d'améliorer mon italien. Quelle belle semaine! Mon appartement très agréable et bon marché, trouvé par l'école, était situé à 5 minutes à pied de l'école, à dix minutes de la Piazza Giovanni avec le Duomo, et à peine 15 minutes de la gare principale. Autrement dit je pouvais tout faire à pied! Les 3h de cours matinales en petit groupe se sont révélées fort intéressantes avec Monica, une excellente enseignante, également professeure d'histoire de l'art, et les visites organisées par l'école l'après-midi m'ont permis de découvrir certains aspects culturels et historiques de Florence avec des personnes passionnées et fières de leur ville. L'atmosphère à l'école est très conviviale et le personnel souriant et à l'écoute de nos besoins. Grazie mille a tutti per una settimana tanto piacevole. Mi è piaciuto moltissimo la esperienza e spero bene ripeterla presto. Ciao e buona fortuna!
