Mike was helpful in a difficult time that few people know how to handle with senior placement. He was available almost immediately to assist and at all hours for additional questions and opinions. I would urge anyone to call Mike if you have a senior placement issue as with his knowledge of the facilities in the greater Rochester I’m certain he will be of assistance.

In summary, we couldn't have gone through the process of finding my Father an Assisted Living facility without Senior Care Authority. They are very well connected and respected in the community. Dave was very patient with my family and coached us through the whole process. If you are going through this with a family member, I highly recommend you have Senior Care Authority on your team.

Few plan for a catastrophic medical event. When it happens you quickly learn how the health care system is designed to address illness not wellness. Insurance payments are a running clock so everyday is critical and when it ends the bills add up quickly. That is the situation we found ourselves in a short time ago. Knowing what to do and when to do it when this happens is a studied art. There are a bewildering number of choices and decisions that must be made quickly. Each one can have tremendous implications down stream. Mike at SCA was able to quickly step in and accurately assess the situation. His guidance, advice, and humanity lead us to the best solution which we would have never found ourselves. I have worked with many professionals in my life, but I have never seen one better at their job. With his help, what could have been a worst case scenario has become the best case. My family and I can give a complete endorsement to the Senior Care Authority of Rochester.

Mike helped me navigate long term care options for my mom and thanks to his involvement I am confident that we found the right place for her. More than simply knowledgeable about facilities in the area — which honestly could be enough on its own — Mike actively manages the elements of complex decision-making. He’s guiding the process by holding the priorities in balance and not letting steps jump out of order. As a solo caregiver, I found it beneficial to have a sturdy, unbiased guide at my side. He helped me prioritize what is important for my mom’s care, found facilities that matched those needs, arranged tours, and patiently endured my emotionally-charged deliberation. We were making decisions while COVID was still a considerable factor and he offered perspective that helped me weigh that among everything else. He also gave terrific referrals for the “other” stuff of planning a move: legal, financial, logistical, etc. I was pregnant and then caring for a brand new infant while working with Mike. He alleviated stress, kept things moving along, and even made accommodations so that touring facilities with a 3-week old was feasible. I can’t say enough good things about my experience and am forever grateful for the professionalism and empathetic support at such a vulnerable time.

I called Senior Care Authority to get help in placing my Mom in a nursing home. Dave was with me all the way even though I never got to use his service, as my Mom passed away sooner than we thought she would. He answered every question I called him with, even after he knew my Mom had passed. Definitely would recommend Senior Care Authority!

Dave Schanz came to my dad's house and sat down with us at our kitchen table and his manner and knowledge put my dad and I at ease immediately. He has extensive experience with dozens of facilities around our area and many many wonderful suggestions. We had an appointment with an assisted living facility the next day he arranged for us. Dave met us there and literally stood by our side. I cannot tell you how much of a burden he lifted from us. Thank you Dave. I would recommend him to anyone and everyone.

Bottom line: skip the big guys (A Place for Mom, Caring.com, etc.) and choose Senior Care Authority. You won’t regret it.

A SR friend of family ended up in hospital then rehab and needed to move out of her apartment. It happened quickly and was a bit complicated as I wasn't family and not POA. Was introduced to Mike. He was just amazing with my SR and he took such a load off both my SR and my shoulders. He guided/educated me through the legal, financial, medical and logistics of helping someone needing to move to assisted living, and later to extended care. He was always responsive to my questions (even when he was on vacation). I will be forever grateful for his help and support.

I/we consider Mike our knight in shining armor and our angel. A 92 yr old friend of the family ended up in hospital and then rehab. She was not going to be able to go back to her apt. and in fact rehab insurance coverage was ending and would be needing a place SOON. I was bit in over my head in trying to figure this out. Rehab social worker made the connection to Mike K.
Mike helped us understand NY distinctions for various housing options, consulted with us on options, made phone calls and appointments, gave input on places of interest, asked the right questions of nurses/PT/social services to help evaluate needs, DROVE our SR for tour interviews and stayed with us on the tour, and reviewed financials. Mike helped me personally understand my concerns (I was not a Proxy or POA). I had a planned out of town trip and Mike worked to expedite the move. When Sr ended up back in hospital he showed up at the hospital and gave reassurance on the changed options/logistics for our SR and gave me a much needed shoulder. Then as I left town, Mike followed up that the move happened and our SR was settled. I am so thankful for all he helped with and will sing his praises to all who might use his services. Like I said a knight in shining armor.

I would absolutely recommend Mike and Senior Care Authority. I knew that placing my mom in assisted living would be difficult and stressful. I knew nothing of the facilities in our community and knew the search would be time consuming and scary. Mike listened carefully to our needs, set up and accompanied us to the places we visited and helped us ask the right questions to properly assess each place.
