Sheri Oluyemi is a brilliant, impartial, and candid attorney who was recently successful in helping me to receive a favorable verdict against a federal entity that’s statistically difficult to win against especially if there is a hearing. I’m happy to do a review on Avvo about my experience because I found Mrs. Oluyemi on this site. And, it was the favorable reviews that prompted me to contact her.
Without her, my employer offered me a very small sum of money; and wanted to keep a wrongful termination on my record, but allow me to be reinstated the day I signed the settlement agreement. However, this would have been without any backpay, and no acknowledgement of their wrongdoings. Yet, with her legal expertise, I was awarded my job back with full benefits, backpay with interest for over a year without pay, all attorney fees paid, compensatory damages, and the judge did find my employer guilty of discriminatory actions, which resulted in a wrongful termination.
To be able to witness Sheri so elegantly utilize case laws, past practices, evidence, etc. to cross examine my employers’ leadership team and their witnesses and observe her as she caught them in several lies on the stand to the point that you could hear some stutter and stumble over their statements while others provided contradicting statements to the previous witness that was on the stand was not only amazing, but almost surreal. Being in that hearing room, for me, was like being in a live remake of the Erin Brockovich or The Rainmaker movies or any scenario where the human defeats the giant in the end because I witnessed one person (Sheri Oluyemi) single-handedly defeated an entire legal team. They had, at one point, 4 or 5 people in the hearing room on their side boastfully conversing back and forth with each other throughout the 2-day trial to my ONE.
But, with Mrs. Oluyemi as your attorney, I can attest that ONE attorney to believe in your case, believe in your truth, and truly believe that you did not deserve whatever wrongful act done to you by your employer is all that you need. Throughout this almost 2 yearlong drawn out ordeal, there were lots of ups and downs. But she was very patient; consistently active in her efforts; and encouraging to me, as a client, throughout the process. And honestly, whether I won the case or not wasn’t as important to me as being able to courageously stand up and speak out against my employer with my evidence and truth and have an attorney to believe in me based on that evidence and not be afraid to go against my employer even though the odds where against me to win. To me, being brave and exposing my employer for so many discriminatory and retaliatory acts against me while employed was more important than a win. Although, I’m eternally thankfully for the win, I’m equally more appreciative of Sheri’s commitment to my case and heroism of going against a billion-dollar funded industry and not selling her client out by taking side deals or forcing me to take settlements deals that were absurd and not in my best interest.
She was very thorough, patient, attentive, and she made sure she did her research before given me her feedback about what she believed we should do next and why by stating the pros and the cons. I liked that she gave me options.
Also, I was extremely impressed that as the attorney, she still made sure that she didn’t initiate communication with the other party at all without getting my feedback. And to me, as a client and not the professional, it made me feel like I was an active participant in my own case rather than a robot being forcefully instructed what to do and what to accept without any explanations.
I irrefutably recommend Sheri Oluyemi as the perfect attorney to defend anyone who has employment or labor relation issues with their employer regardless of how small or large the company is or past history of employee’s not being successful at winning their cases.
