A hidden gem in the Fashion Valley mall; cool ambiance, great food, very modern for the health conscious looking for whole foods and fresh juices. There were plenty of gluten free and dairy free options. The entrees we selected (sea bass tacos and spicy tuna wrap) were fantastic. We had three different sides with our meals (kale avocado salad, sweet potato mash, and beans) and unfortunately all were terrible and bland. We finished the meal with an amazing banana coconut chia pudding. I'd definitely go back!

I tried some of their food at an event and fell in love with the kale salad and tofu lettuce cups that I had to try them again. I dropped by recently to fuel up on some healthy food, and ordered the salad cups and the quinoa burger. I was thinking of ordering a small kale salad, but it already came with my burger. Even better, I had the option to get half salad and half sweet potato hash. Obviously I went with both. The quinoa burger is served "open face" which means they quinoa patties are the "buns" and all the veggies are in the middle. It was pretty tasty and had a slight crunch to the patties. Vegetables were fresh, kale salad and hash were delicious as well. I tried the cucumber refreshener as a drink, but there was too much ice in it. I'm not sure it was worth the price. I was kind of annoyed that they said I would be seated immediately if I chose to sit outside, but I still ended up waiting a while.

True Food Kitchen is an awesome restaurant. When you walk in you are greeted with a very modern yet rustic decor. The room is very large with high ceilings which feels inviting. The food is very friendly to vegans, vegetarians, and people who are gluten-free. Each item on the menu is very unique and you'd be hard pressed to find it on very many other menus. Each dish tastes really good, but the portions are small. It takes awhile to be seated though, so make sure you make a reservation!

True Food Kitchen is really convenient and delicious. My favorite is the Salmon and Kale salad and I really enjoy the variety of organic beers they carry. The only think I don't like is that they don't take reservations and the wait times there can get crazy, since it's inside Fashion Valley. The staff is always very friendly and make sure that you are enjoying your visit to the restaurant. I visit the place a few times a month, you could say I'm a regular!

The food is fresh, but lackluster and uninspiring. Typical yuppie food, organic, clean, but also boring and overpriced.

I'm writing to share my recent encounter with the bartender at True Food during a to-go order. While the restaurant's food and ambiance remain exceptional, I'd like to address a specific incident. Yesterday, my family ordered to-go pizza for my kids around 6:40 pm. The bartender handed us the kids' menu and waited while we made our selections. Despite our prompt decision taking merely seconds, her impatience was evident. Once we placed the order, she brusquely inquired whether we planned to wait inside or outside, implying we should wait outdoors. Given that the restaurant is situated within a mall, we intended to stroll around as we waited. Unfortunately, the food preparation took roughly 45 minutes, during which we approached her twice for updates, and on both occasions, we were informed that the food was not yet ready. The last time we went a different bartender, a kind lady took the initiative to check on the order and promptly brought it to us. Regrettably, upon receiving our food this time, we noticed it was excessively cold, suggesting it had been left unattended for an extended period, as though she had neglected to verify its readiness. In general, we hold True Food in high regard; however, this particular interaction with the bartender left much to be desired.

Unfortunately the food doesn’t live up to the price, bland and lacking flavor. Staff was great and attentive. A better choice for healthy food that has a bit more flavor is one of my favorites Tender Greens go there instead‍♂️

I wish I had taken a picture of what they call "steak" on their salad to post here. Small portions for the price.

not the typical experience here...food was slow and then not very good...not bad either, just okay...wasn't the servers fault, but the kitchen...want even busy so I guess they were short staffed...

This is one of my favorite restaurants and I visit whenever I go to San Diego ( or Chicago/Atlanta) I’m not sure what happened but my favorite food, ancient grain bowl, wasn’t just the same as before? Kinda disappointed

The food was good. The drinks are a bit expensive for what you get, 15 bucks for a cranberry mule, it was decent but not worth that price. The Ramen was super tasty!

What's the hub bub, bub? Overpriced and mediocre. The Korean steak was not seasoned well and it tasted old. It was also full of fat and gristle. The side dish was not seasoned well either. Everything was bland. I had a ginger drink that was good, but small...mostly ice for $6. They try but don't make the grade. I'm not going back.

Poor service. Had to ask for utensils and straws, waitperson did not check on our table at all even though the patio was not very busy.

Ordered the chopped salad with Korean steak. First, they missed two items that were supposed to be included (manchego cheese and farro). Not impressed as the salad was soggy with no crunch. The charred cauliflower is good tasting, but the pieces are super tiny. Don’t let the photos fool you. I was so excited to come here as I just moved to San Diego. I’d been here years ago and it was fantastic. Service is terrible and it wasn’t even busy. What’s going on? Since I’ve been in San Diego for 3 weeks, by far the worst of all the places I’ve dined at. I’m pretty disappointed. The steak is super fatty and not cooked very well. They didn’t even ask how I would like the meat cooked. Won’t be coming back. Must find a better healthier spot. For what you pay, $24 for the salad, I was very dissatisfied and bummed. Originally gave a 2 star review. Changing it to 3 as they offered a discount because of the issues. If I could give 2.5 stars I would.

Too vegan/vegetarian. How hard is it to get a normal chocolate chip cookie and regilar vanilla ice cream none of the desert options are real they're just vegan. Burger was good but lacked cheese. Chicken parm was good but I dont think they have it anymore

Good food, drinks were expensive. Service was nice and attentive. The food took a while to come out, by the time my dumplings came they were a little cold. A tasty vegan/vegetarian option but nothing special
