We contacted sam ivy about our two dogs. One had aggressive behaviors towards people and the other was not listening to anything we tried to teach her and had a fear of other dogs. We had a consultation and got started on the advanced off leash training within two weeks of the consultation. After the first two weeks of training with Gina (who was very helpful and willing to go the extra mile) we saw a difference in their behavior. Training is like learning a new language if you don’t continusly use it, you’ll loose it. We feel prepared and well informed enough to be able to continue to practice on the skills they have acquired. Thanks Gina!

We had a great experience with Gina!!! We did the advanced off leash program with our two dogs. Both dogs were rescues and we were dealing with a lot of aggression with both people and dogs. Our lives were put on hold because of their behavioral issues. We stopped having people over and were afraid to take our dogs on walks. We tried two other companies for obedience training with no results before going to Sam ivy. After completing the program we can walk our dogs OFF LEASH around the perimeter of a dog park with no reactivity whatsoever. Even the small changes around the house to create boundaries has made such a difference; we can eat dinner without dogs climbing up on the table, and unload groceries out of the car without having them try and leave the house! We had a terrible experience with a German Shepherd that we did not end up adopting! But found another GSD, that was 14 months old that had not been trained at anything! But to add to this challenge we had just adopted a Yorkie/Min Pin, so you can imagine my fear with these two very different sized critters living together! We met with Sam himself at our home and he said all the right things to make us decide we had to hire them to help us with training these two dogs to live together! My dad was the most naturally dog whisperer man that had never had any training with learning how to train dogs, he just knew how! So many of the techniques Sam spoke to us about were just the way my dad did things! This made it an easy decision to spend some money and learn first for me to trust that not all Shepherds were evil and I could stop being afraid of him! I cannot say enough positive things about Gina, who was our trainer! She taught us how to work with our dogs and they have just graduated from the Intermediate on leash training! We will quite probably bring them back to go higher onto off leash or possibly even go up to Service Dog with Duke the German Shepherd since he has already shown us that he has endless capability! He was so resistant to start, but with Gina's help, using Sam Ivys techniques we have a very happy home with 2 dogs that not only now love each other, but are so well behaved and have learned what is expected of them when the door bell rings or it is dinner time and they haven't been invited to join us at the table! Our 2 dogs (Pit Mix and Rottweiler) completed intermediate on-leash training. Amazing transformation in just a couple of months with Alexis as the trainer. We were surprised when Alexis brought her service dog, Marley, along to each training session---we're sure Marley expedited the time necessary to train our dogs. After about 6 weeks, Alexis encouraged us to take them to an outdoor market (lots of vendors, smells, people, children and dogs). I would have never attempted this previously on my own and even wanted to cancel because I was so nervous our dogs would misbehave.. However, our dogs were the STARS of the markets! At least 8 people said our Rottweiler was a GOOD DOG and one lady even called him an Angel. Once Alexis told us and demonstrated how to interact/train our dogs we humans became the Alphas of our pack. . . . It was well worth the investment. Many thanks to Alexis and Marley.

Our golden retriever Benny was 1 year old when we started training in January due to behavioral issues like running out the door, jumping on people, thinking he owned the house, separation anxiety, etc. My husband and I didn’t know what to do especially since we have a little one due in May, so we looked into trainers and thought Sam Ivy K9 Consultants would be the best fit for us since they came to your house to do the training. Our trainer Alexis is the absolute BEST! Within 3 sessions Benny was no longer running out the door and he quickly learned that he couldn’t jump on anyone unless he was commanded to. By the end of Benny’s training program that only took 3 months Benny was a completely different dog (with his same lovable personality) Benny just graduated the Intermediate Off-Leash program today and had a great time celebrating at the dog beach. Our family had such a great experience using Sam Ivy K9 Consultants! Our puppy, Mr. Kite, was full of energy and playful, getting into everything around the house, and he was so friendly and curious when outside that he was difficult to manage on walks. Miguel worked with us and now Mr. Kite is disciplined, obedient, and easy to manage while still retaining his playful, sweet, and outgoing personality. Having a well-trained dog helps us enjoy our time with him more because we experience more positive interactions without having to frequently punish or scold him for mistakes. I found Sam Ivy K9 online, and after reading several reviews, decided to contact them regarding some aggression issues with one of our dogs, who is 3 years old. She previously had basic obedience training thru another company, but I decided to try a different route. I went with the on-leash training, and Alexis was our trainer. She was fabulous, and put forth the extra effort, also bringing her own well-trainer dog on several occasions, to teach mine proper restraint, as well as socialization skills. I also learned that when e-collars are used correctly, they can go a long way towards correcting bad behaviors. And our girl has been no less happy or playful. In fact, a few of the sessions involved meeting in public places in which dogs were allowed (including a yearly doggy shin dig at Riverwalk), and our pooch did great. She was well-mannered around the many other dogs. In any case, Alexis was respectful, timely, and very helpful, and all with a pleasant personality. I would use Sam Ivy again, and am entertaining off-leash training next. My only sidenote would be that some of the tools such as the e-collar and prong collar can be found much cheaper online, such as thru Amazon.

Where do I begin to tell you how I recommend Sam Ivy K-9 dog training? Excellent and 5 ⭐️‘S. I had such great concerns where I adopted a dog from the kill shelter with history of cruelty and abuse. In my home we already had a dog and a cat ( cat-who thinks he is a dog) that are of nice personalities. After bringing the new dog (4yrs old) home, she displayed a trigger for cats, prey trigger. She tried to bite and chased my poor kitty cat who wanted to make friends. Yikes, home already disrupted with potential mayhem. My other dog was reacting to the new dog and the home had such uneasiness. This dog was not potty trained, nor knew how to walk on a leach. This dog was very strong and hyper. We were starting from scratch. Alexis ( fantastic gal) became my instructor and she teaches you the pack dog mentality in how the owners are the Alpha dog and the rest of the animals must follow their pack leader which was me. Training begins with basic rules and correction ( tools supplied). These reinforcements are to make sure the commands are followed. Each step brought this new adopted dog who had no rules become a wonderful student. Alexis is an amazing dog trainer and knows the behavior of dogs through years of working with them. She also brings her dog Marley to help with behaviors towards other dogs. After working with Marley, my sons both brought my gradpups over on the weekends, I was a bit nervous. Alexis guided me to how to integrate the extended members to the family. Her suggestions of integration, well, all went great. My cat which was a huge concern, now the new dog and cat are best friends. The new dog had to realize the cat is part of the pack and that she is the newest in the pecking order. We are all a happy family. My older dog had old habits with walking and now she is better too. The key is you must keep working with the training instructions and reinforce the pecking order of the home and how the animal have to earn respect with good behavior with Alpha dog, ME and my husband. It is sad many people adopt older animals and expect them to do well at the get go. If it doesn’t happen fast, people tend to return them back to the pound. It took me 2 1/2 months to get what we achieved ( it can take up to 6 mos to 1 yr for some animals ) and I will continue to use the techniques to have a happy home with my fur babies.
