My initial Online purchase of the Godox V860II flash for Fuji was not as smooth as I would have liked. Probably a hiccup on the day somewhere within the online digital world. Anyway, onto the product itself. Having previously owned the T685F on my then XT-3, it would randomly let me down. Anything from locking up and flash not firing, over exposure and not to mention plenty AA batteries on hand. The Godox V860II and the Fuji XT-5, has been in a different league wrt to compatibility and use. Initially I thought it was going to be to heavy and bulky on top of my camera but after awhile playing around with the settings, it didn’t bother me and the extra weight felt a bit better in hand. I found TTL mode the quickest and easiest to use on the go all the time. Whether it was indoor and outdoors. I purchased a spare battery as I did not want to be caught on the short end during a shoot. Well, I never got anywhere near to using the spare after shooting probably 90% in TTL (with FEC adjustments here and there) for approx. 6-7hrs. I hope it isn’t like some fuel gauges that show full for miles and just when you think its awesome fuel economy, it drops down to half or less in a blink of an eye. I fortunately never got to that point with the battery. Time will tell I guess. Still haven’t figured out best way to use the LED modelling light, if at all. One quirk which I personally have found with the Godox on camera flash (as also with my previous TT685F), is pulling out the bounce card. It’s a bugger having short nails as I struggle to pull out the card when needed. It really fits a little too snuggly in there but nothing like a piece of tape attached to jank it out. Issue diverted. Overall, great on camera flash and I look forward to putting it thru its paces when it comes to the other features such as stroboscopic and high-speed sync. John Botha JEBIMAGES
