Jessi B.
I had a great time with Anna in the afternoon! She and I got along very well rather quickly and connected by discussing what she likes to learn about in school, the sort of animals she likes, and about the holidays with family she had within the last few months!
I was greeted at the door by the excited voice of Sadie, the Germán/lab dog that is excitable and rather sweet! So, no worries if she seems REALLY excited to see you for the first time! Mrs. Barnett & Anna worked as a team to assure me she was just happy to meet me which made me smile and feel all the more welcomed! Sadie from that point on with a few head scratches was a fun friend that enjoyed a walk to the park with Anna and I.
Anna is really intelligent and easy going! She told me about how she had a drawing that she wanted to finish from the day before and know that she does her ABC's REAL well! She's amazing when it comes to finding detail and understanding cause and effect in a book, even if she's never seen it before! I found this a great key as we read my animal book on "Mind Your Manners'' that is very vivid and lovely with the art! Anna knows about a lot of animals too and would one day like to have a kitty!
I happened to bring my electric scooter and let Anna give it a try, though we found it a bit tall and she didn't have the desire to go around much on it. We took to the playground where she and I would swing, discuss fun things like fun things to do and listened to Disney music then walked back just two houses down back to their house where she and I settled down and colored and discussed some more about the arts of singing, color/shape making tricks, and read some more stories of hers and played with her adorable Cabbage Patch baby dolls!
Mrs. Barnett was very courteous and thoughtful and was available to answer some questions along the way during our afternoon (such as what snack items was okay ). I'm so grateful to know such kind people in the community like this! I look forward to returning in the future with more ideas, craft suggestions, conversations, and books that did well this time around!
