I want to shout it to the rooftops that no one does Africa better than Micato! When clients came to be requesting a special trip to Botswana for their family getaway the first that came to mind for them was Micato. For a meticulous client who only wanted the best I knew Micato was the company to use. Their attention to detail is bar none. My clients came home with wonderful feedback on the way their trip was handled. Coordinated down to even mixing up family members to mix and mingle. Thank you Micato for your special care and attention. I am one happy Travel Advisor.

We traveled through Kenya and Tanzania with Micato Safaris in early June 2024. My sister and I have traveled extensively and this trip, by far, was the most incredible adventure of a lifetime! Micato exceeded our expectations and we highly recommend this company. Everything is taken care of for you from the moment you land until you go through airport security for the return home. The Micato team is always with you, always friendly and supportive, and work together to ensure you have an amazing experience. Henry, our Micato safari director, was very knowledgeable, experienced, friendly and safety conscious and we can't imagine having a better guide. If we get the chance to return to Africa, we will only go with Micato and only with Henry as our guide. Our driver, Enzi, also did an outstanding job navigating his way through the difficult conditions in the bush. These two staff members were exceptional, and represent Micato well. Micato knows how to do Safaris. We will always treasure the memories we made in Africa.

I worked in east Africa as a paleontologist throughout the 90s and, in 1996, had the good fortune of joining my father on a Micato safari. I relished the opportunity to spend time with my dad and share with him my love of Africa. During that trip I was impressed with the Micato staff and how seamless our adventure unfolded. That trip occurred right before the digital camera revolution and, even though I have many amazing photos, I often thought about returning without the burden of carrying lead bags to shield my canisters of photo film and the ability to take as many pictures as my camera would hold. Late last year the thought of returning was overwhelming, and I reached out to Micato to see what could be scheduled. This time I would make the trip with my wife (who also previously worked in Kenya) and our teenage daughter. We just returned from that trip and even though, based on my previous experience, my expectations were high, they were exceeded in every aspect. We were met at the airport by our guide, Tony, who took care of us the entire trip, only leaving us two weeks later when it was time for us to go through airport security on the way back home. Tony is a naturalist par excellence and he provided interesting information on every animal, bird, snake, or bug we came across. We also found that the drivers for Micato were also well-versed in animal information and we all enjoyed learning about the game parks. Among their talents, the drivers were very helpful in setting up camera shots. They would bring the car into perfect placement with regard to lighting and adjacent scenery and make small adjustments as the animals moved. We loved getting to know Tony and the drivers and, throughout the day, the vehicle was filled with laughter and stories as we navigated the African plains. The lodges were outstanding, we particularly enjoyed the tented camps. The staff were always friendly and helpful, and the food was wonderful. Meals were typically served as a buffet with a wide variety of choices to suit anyone’s taste. If you are interested in viewing animals in the wild, in photographing beautiful places, in taking time away from the phone and the computer, in making new friends, Micato makes it all very easy. We can’t wait to go back.

I recently took an African Safari with Micato. There are many things to praise about Micato Safaris; in my mind it is the Micato owners and employees that differentiates Micato from other providers. I am happy to share that all were committed to providing an excellent experience for their guests.

Last year I began to plan a trip with my children and grandchildren that I hoped would be a trip of a lifetime in South Africa. At the strong recommendation of my friend Kathy Bernstein, a friend and luxury travel Planner I connected with Meg Bufkin at Micato Safari. After a thorough interview to determine my hopes and preferences Meg arranged the most spectacular trip in June 2024 from Newark, NJ to Capetown to Tintswalo Manor House to Kapama to Victoria Falls. Our onsite Micato guides were superb - professional, knowledgeable, personable. The locations chosen and staff were consistently excellent exceeding all expectations. Food, tours, activities and accommodations were uniformly top rate. We were indeed treated like family. The gifts and attention to details were wonderful surprises. We were well prepared and informed from early planning throughout the trip. I would highly recommend Micato to anyone seeking an extraordinary experience. Perhaps my strongest endorsement is my hope to be a repeat Micato client!

My son and daughter in law invited me to join them on the safari to Kenya and see the gorillas in Rwanda. I had never been to Africa and didn't know what to expect. They told me that Micato would take care of everything. I actually had no idea what that meant. All I can say is that the people who represent Micato are exceptional. Kennedy was our safari guide in Amboseli, Loisaba and Maasai Mara. He was with us for ten days. He is so very knowledgeable, caring, funny and thoughtful. He surprised us with breakfast in the bush. We also had a happy hour while on a game drive. He surprised us with a dinner around a fire pit. We were serenaded by the employees of the Mahali Mzuru camp. It was so delightful. The most impressive thing that Kennedy did for us was when Michael got sick.; instead of taking him to the nurse, he brought nurse to him. Kennedy went above and beyond his job title. He is an exceptional person. Samuel, our driver drove Kennedy and he was so helpful and kind too. Noah and Kas were our drivers at Loisaba and Maasai Mara respectively. They were both terrific at finding animals and showing us the sights. Kas was an amazing tracker. We tracked a mother cheetah and her cub for three days. He knew exactly where to look and how to approach the cheetah. Noah found a juvenile leopard and we were able to watch in while it was hiding in a tree. The leopard was waiting for a couple of lions to leave the area. Both experiences were amazing. At each camp, we were made to feel so very welcome. Everyone treating us as honored guests in their homes. They learned our names quickly and figured out our likes and dislikes. They just made us feel so very comfortable and wanted. My three grandchildren were with us. Nelson, at Liosaba Lodo Springs and Patrick and Peter at Wilderness played games with them, ordered them special foods and drinks and took them on hikes. Sandrine was in charge of the drinks. She often surprised my grandchildren which thrilled them. It just warmed my heart. Sula was our driver in Rwanda. He was also so knowledgeable and friendly. He told us all about Kigali and gave us a tour of the embassies and the government buildings. He recommended sites we should visit too. We went to see the Genocide Memorial and Museum and the Dian Fossey center. I highly recommend both. If I forgot to mention anyone, I apologize. I met so many special people. So thank you to all who made this trip unbelievable. I am totally indebted to you forever. For me, this trip was a trip of a lifetime. I will cherish the past two weeks forever. Thank you Micato for making a dream come true.
