We had the most amazing time with Micato Safaris. It’s hard to find a group of people who are so dedicated and passionate in sharing their culture, caring for wildlife and environment, committing to social responsibility, all while providing excellent customer service - you have all of that with Micato, and I will never look for another company if I am ever able to do another safari.
The itinerary our family group followed was the Heart of Kenya and Tanzania, and it was extremely well thought out. Each park you visit offers a completely unique experience, and yes, they successfully guided us to see the Big 5 (among many others). The experience can be flexible from more leisurely to going all in for early mornings, and we really appreciated how accommodating our safari director, drivers, and other staff were with us. Any downtime you think there may be in transportation or other can easily be filled with a rewarding experience, such as asking the staff about their culture and history or making fun stops like the Olduvai Gorge.
Even beyond the wildlife, one of the most rewarding experiences was an option to visit the Harambee Community Center in Mukuru, the second largest slum in Nairobi. Micato helped set up the community center to provide a safe place to help the residents in Mukuru improve their lives, and every Safari with Micato supports the children’s education. We spoke with one woman whose education was funded by Micato and AmericaShare’s programs, and she is now nearly finished with her college education.
You can tell everyone in the business, from owners to safari drivers put everything they can into giving you the best experience possible. We’d like to especially thank Wilbard, Mercy, Arnold and Emmanuel for the great time. We felt that you all became a part of our family through this experience, and we hope to see you again.
