It totally worth the investment - period. I didn't take my first exam very seriously and I failed. I then applied to PM PrepCast, went through the lessons, reviewed in the PM BOK, took notes, took plenty of practice questions and 3 exams (passed with difficulty: 80%, 73%, 70%) - in my real exam: I passed with Above Target for all. I found the questions much simpler in the real exam and less tricky.
I had tried purchasing audio books previously, but could not follow and learn anything valuable - with PM PrepCast, I was able to grab a good part of the knowledge, while taking a walk. Obviously, being seated on a desk and looking at slides is much more effecient.
I did think there could be improvements - maybe one can do on his own to better grasp the material: some kind of flow chart for every project document, dependencies between project documents, couple of real world examples to illustrate the processes from A to Z, etc.
Go for it, work hard and good luck!
