On behalf of my very thankful mom, Alice:
"I have had chronic pain in my lower back for a long time, and was losing my mobility. To this point, physiotherapists were of no help. My doctor shrugged and sent me for an X-Ray, which showed nothing. No one could tell me why I was in such pain and losing the ability to walk as I used to. Then I saw an eye-catching poster at the Horn of Plenty, and I thought what do I have to lose? If nothing else, being with other people in chronic pain would make me feel like I am not alone with this problem.
So I went to Avi’s Back Pain and Sciatica class above the Shopper’s Drug Mart in Dundas. Every person’s problem was different, but similar in that they all had chronic pain for some time, and had tried other places for help. When Avi came into the class, his enthusiasm and smile was contageous. He seemed so hopeful and self-confident, it actually seemed to rub off on all of us during his talk. Avi even used me as a testsubject for the class! After doing some hands-on movements, he explained the source of my pain was probably my sacroilliac, which I had never heard of before. His explanation was very enlightening and informative. I decided to come back for regular appointments once a week. Avi does many types of treatments involving belts, physical manipulation, electrotherapy and heating pads. I have excercises to do at home which help me to improve at home.
Knowing what I know now, thanks to Avi, has given me such relief. I never knew before which activities I did made my symptoms worse. I am definitely gaining mobility and feeling better. Knowledge is indeed power! Avi’s office staff treats me with the utmost professionalism. His general demeanour is very kind and patient. I don’t have to wait when I come in for my appointments, and Avi’s smiling, enthusiastic face actually becomes part of my healing process.
