First known depictions of two biblical heroines were recently uncovered in ancient Jewish synagogue. BYU ancient scripture professor Matthew Grey and seven students joined with other universities to excavate mosaics telling the stories of Jael and Deborah in the Galilean village of Huqoq. Recently, Rachel Cope, associate professor of Church history and doctrine, received the Harvey B. and Susan Easton Black Outstanding Scholarship Award. She has published several articles on American women’s spirituality and conversion in the late eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries, which have appeared in various edited volumes and journals. Get religion credit for taking SFL 200 from the BYU School of Family Life! In Fall Semester 2022, “The Eternal Family” (SFL 200) will be taught by Larry Nelson, professor in the BYU School of Family Life. Course overview: This course will focus on the doctrine of the family and the central role families play in Heavenly Father's plan of salvation, teachings from ”The Family: A Proclamation to the World,” other teachings of latter-day prophets, the scriptures, and other inspired writings. Additionally, this course will cover factors from relationship science shown to contribute to the formation of healthy marriages and families. SFL 200 fulfills the BYU Religious Education "The Eternal Family" course requirement, or can be counted as 2 credits of Religion elective credit.
