SPORTS NEWS | Congratulations to the St Mary’s U15s Bill Turner Cup team for an excellent tournament in 2025. The team made it all the way to the Illawarra final against Illawarra Sports High School, and with the score locked up at 2-2 at full time, we were unlucky to go down 3-2 after conceding a goal in extra time. With five Year 7 students in the team, this was an amazing effort from all involved. We are excited to see what this team can achieve in the future. A special thank you to Mr Battin for coaching the team.

NAIDOC WEEK | This week, our community celebrated NAIDOC Week, a time to recognise and honour the history, culture, and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. It’s a week that invites all Australians to reflect on the strength, resilience, and contributions of the world’s oldest continuous cultures — cultures that are still alive, evolving, and thriving today. On Thursday morning, students watched a special NAIDOC episode of the Saltwater Yarns Podcast in their Tutor Group. During lunchtime, students were invited to try some delicious homemade damper and freshly brewed bush tea, made from native Australian plants. These activities offered a unique opportunity for all students, especially our visiting students from Japan to learn, ask questions and participate in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Culture. This week is also a reminder that we all have a role in walking together, with respect, truth, and unity. #NAIDOC2025 #NAIDOCWeek #StrengthVisionLegacy #StMarysCollege #bushtea #damper
